Today i met up with the local VW Diesel group for a little fun run though the country hills Rally Kinda Style.
ALL i can say is HOLY POOOOOOOOOOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have driven hard befor but NEVER have i EVER pushed ANY of my cars that far or that hard. Never have i gone around corners in pouring rain right beside a cliff (DOWN) skiding through at over Double the "Suggested Speed Limit .
Never have i pushed my little car to over 120km/hr down a light twisty
DIRT road. Never have gone over a hill and had all 4 tires leave
the ground for what seemed like hrs. And NEVER had i EVER though
so much fun could be had in a little 52hp car. Total driving time was 90minutes at 160kms for a average speed of 106kms/hr (65mph) includeing all stops and zero highway .The cars i was driving with were all 97-05 VW TDIs from passats to golfs and jettas all at minimum chiped with many haveing more engine mods and some with performance susppenshion brakes and tires/rims. I was the ONLY one attempting to hold my own in a OLD 87 VW Golf/Rabbit with a NON turbo Diesel and BONE STOCK. My car has NO power steering and a manuale cable clutch leaving me with a sore left arm and left leg by the end LOL. But all said and done i did alright and even for the most part kept up just fine due to the MUTCH lighter weight of the older model VWs and better rain tires allowing me to Brake harder approching and push harder in the turns than that of the more powerful but also larger and heavier cars tuned and set for dry weather driving. I think i am NOW officially HOOKED and cant wait till the next one and am now more than ever dreaming up new ideas to improve my cars performance .
And my sister said ya cant make a old car reliable. Yeash how
many other cars could pull this kinda punishmnt off at 318,000kms and
18years old without any worrys of brakeing something. And for
that matter how many cars could drive like that for 200kms and not even
use 1/4 of a tank that only cost $30 too fill. Man now i have
three automotive hobbies.Diesel Truck Performance Pulling, Hualing, and Drag Racing ![]() Diesel Car Rallying ![]() Motorcycle Cruising/Coustomizeing ![]() Edited by BearClaw |

Gotta 6.0 diesel in my Ford truck, 325 hp and 580 something lbs feet of
torque. It moves pretty well. Wish they made Jeeps with diesels.

I'm going mountain biking with my school's outdoors club tomorow, I'm hoping they are as good or better than me, because I don't plan on waiting for slow pokes.

Yeah my trucks ALOT quicker than my VW but the truck would have no hope of ever pulling the turns that little VW did
.
It may be gutless but even the 150hp-250lbs of tq in 3000lbs cars were
not pulling away from me as i could catch em in the turns. My
cars LIGHT & SMALL so it can corner and BRAKE a bit better.
Not to mention i dont have High performance street tires on it like the
rest of em so i had a bit more grip due to the heavy rain and COLD
weather. My trucks a 94 F250 with a 7.3 Turbo Diesel thats not exactly stock . Its got enough to set ya back and hold its own against my buddies 03 Dodge Cummins (ALSO NOT STOCK). |
