If you didn't know, the next version of AOL Instant Messenger is out.
It's called AIM Triton. I've been using the Beta version for a while
now. You can download it at Aim.com.
I like the tabbed IMing, the new color scheme is alright. It can also log IM conversations and some other nifty things. Problem is, the install package is full of malware (yeah, that's what I'm calling it). AOL Exlorer and an AOL for broadband trial are installed automatically. There is no option for not installing them. So no prob, I go to Control Panel and go into "Add or Remove Programs", and it's not listed there! Then I go into the AIM uninstall thing that is supposed to be able to uninstall any AOL software you have. AIM is the only thing listed! No AOL Explorer! Double-you tee eff, dude? This is retarded and I can't find a folder for it or anything to do a manual uninstall. If anyone knows how to get rid of it, please post. This is why people hate AOL... They assume everyone with a Windows PC is a complete moron. You don't even get to pick which partition you want to install it onto. I love the new AIM, still loathe AOL... Edited by Whazuuup! |

I heart adium. Like gaim though, the file transfers suck. Other than that, it's pure ownage.
For you mac users, if you want to view msn webcams, use Mercury Messenger. The messenger sucks hard, but the webcam thing is cool |

Yeah I file transfer a lot on AIM, so I just deal with it.
Plus you have the options of putting the ad in the actual conversation, but once you're past that part, it just moves on up, so you only deal with an annoying ad for a little bit. |
