Hey I've been looking for another hobbie that really didn't involve paintball, and have been thinking about learning how to play a Bass Guitar I've used a friends a "FEW" times(like twice) but just wondering...

What would be a Good Starting 5-string Bass Guitar(one that doesn't cost over $300)

Edit: I've been thinking about this one, but for anyone who has a little exiprence is this a good model? Bass

I don't think you should try to contribute to the music world.

An ESP LTD B55 would be a very nice starter bass, my latest bass is an ESP LTD 254, and the quality is absolutely amazing.  Definately go for the B55, because you can always modify it later on if you want something a bit better.  EMG pickups and active EQ are a must for even the semi-serious bassist.

Probably easier to start out with and probably cheaper and they wont have alot of bells and whistles on them.

Actually, if your just starting, 4 or 5 strings doesnt matter.  BUt if you learned on a 4 string like I did, the transition to 5 string is kinda hard.

Do not get a 5-string, it's harder to learn with a 5 string than a 4 string, 5 is just not good to start with.

I'd go with http://www.zzounds.com/item--ESPB50 the ESP B50 instead, it's the same thing as B55, just 1 less string of course.

Just out of curiousty, why didn't you go for guitar like everyone else?

Granted, bass is alot more beginner friendly.

Base guitars are awesome. Easy to learn. Get a how-to book and  you'll be able to teach yourself to play.
