I am beginning my painting project and have read most of the instructions posted on this site on doing so.  For comfort reasons, can someone write a step-by-step process from         removing paint->taping->choosing materials->painting.

My initial thoughts were to do one color with maybe some other color for lettering and accents.  Woodsball.

Well, for my gun, I took it apart, removed everything from the receiver halves(EVERYTHING), layed them down facing up, scratched up the paint with sandpaper(make sure to rough up all areas), and painted them in short light sprays. I dont know howd youd do the accents and lettering with spraypaint...
this is just my way i did it.
many people have different methods of painting.

Buy some paint stripper, it comes off cleaner that way.

Remember to start spraying the paint before you get to the gun so there is always a fine mist going over the gun. Don't hold the can over the part you want to spray because this can make it come out blotchy.

For the best results, use a self-adhisive (sp?) primer. But any primer will work. And I suggest that you don't take the body down to the bare aluminum. Just rough it up till' it becomes a gray color, then go from there.

Any sandpaper will work really. Because after you Prime it, you should wet sand it (taking you can with the primer you select), so on the can it'll tell you what grit to use when wetsanding. And you can use your dremel, but it's not absoltely needed. And before you do any sanding, make sure you insert the grip screws into your gun (w/o grips). Because the threads they utalize are directly threaded into the body. So you don't want to mess the threads up.

I had a feeling you were going to ask this... But wet sanding is just what it says. Sanding with water. You just apply water to your sand paper, and area your working on, then sand like you normally would. Don't be afraid to use to much water. Because too much is better than too little.

ok.... here we go

1. sandblast it

2.  tape off all unwanted areas painted or for a diff color

3. take some spray paint and shake it up for 2 mns nonstop

4. spray the paint 6-8 inches away from the item

5. wait 30 mns before adding another coat

6.buy some clear coat paint and apply it like you would with the spray paint.

7.wait 1 day after you have it clear coated before polishing it.i use products like mothers CALIFORNIA GOLDŽ SHOWTIMEŽ INSTANT DETAILER

  1. Sand original paint to a gray color.
  2. User primer (self adhesive works best).
  3. Wet sand if directed on can (as directed on can). And when you wet sand, do it lightly.
  4. Put paint on (as directed by can).
  5. Put clear coat on (also as directed on can).
  6. Wait a few of days before you play with your gun, and at least 1-2 before you touch it after you paint it (the more time the better).

Really, any automotive spray paint will work. But if you're looking for good quality, I'd suggest you to use good quality paint, like Rust-Oleum.
