There's an awfully big headline on the cover of USA Today erroneously reporting that they're alive.

I can kind of see how it happened because USA reports that there is no word on the miner's condition and it wasn't anybody at the scene who told the families their loved ones were alive, it was the Governor. It seems to have been reported this way because they found the one body by the vehicle they took into the mine, but found signs that the rest had moved farther in on foot. They took that to mean that they were likely still alive.

This is right along the lines of "Dewey Defeats Truman."
