Did you hear about all of this? How Google is setting up a filtering/censoring type system on their China site according to the government's guidelines? Appearently if you google certain things the Chinese government doesn't want you googling the only results that come up are Chinese official sites. I've got kinda mixed opinions on this. Censorship is definately bad and so is the Chinese government but it seems like Google has the right to tailor their product to their client in order to make a sale if they want to. I don't think all of the outrage that is popping up all over is warranted....

Google probably got a bookoo ammount of money from the Chinease, and I don't think I'd want to breech that kind of contract, even if it is Censorship.

I believe corporations should not succumb to the will of oppressive governments in order to make a profit. Google needs to grow some balls and refuse to censor the Internet for the one-billion-plus Chinese citizens out there. Censorship is wrong.

Well it's either Google limits search terms, or no Google in China. With Google making money from advertising, what do you think is the more popular option?

For proof, check CNN. I just read the article myself.

And there's no money in that government subpoena, which, by the way, is an attempt to search for child pornography offenders.

Well, it's not like they could say no and the people would be able to have free uncensored searches...if they say no there just wont be any google in China...Believe it or not they actually control their internet over there....

And yeah Enos, Google is about the only one with any balls in that case....I hope you guys don't search much on yahoo....

So then don't propogate Internet censorship in other countries. No Google for communist China. It's simple.

Whether or not anyone believes it anymore, corporations have a greater responsibility than merely making a profit. And will the company fail if they don't conquer China? Probably not.

Yeah, you're right. I think I wasn't looking at google as one of the "corporation" but more like the company that is putting out a ton of awsome services for free....Thanks for helping me make up my mind....

Teh prons are illegal in China.

Also, games sold in China are set to shut down after being played for 3 hours.

Also, I predict that within the next 15 years, China finally invades Taiwan.

Censorship, overcrowded cities, pollution that makes even our worst companies look like Greenpeace, no gaming more three hours, no porn...

I couldn't live in China.
