    Posted: 04 February 2006 at 2:16am

Just seen one of those galleries and like the idea of having an unobstructed view from the top of my gun. I use a tac-cap loader now, as I hated the larger hoppers, but im left thinking it would be better to take the next step and move my hopper under my gun or something.

They don't seem to be as popular as the tac-cap loader, but it does seem to be a newer idea. I want to know what they operate off of and what their functionality is like. Is it worth the change?

thanks

The AIC operates off of spring tension. There are no batteries and no air power like the cyclone. It is completely mechanical.

The pods are locked into a socket which has paint being fed into it by a 500rd silo. A knob on the socket is cranked and paint is fed into the Qloader and the spring is torsed. The pod is disconnected from the socket and connected into the gun mounted socket or put into your pack.

I use one on my Automag and it works great. Currently, it is the fastest feeding loader on the market. It is a force feeder and can feed at any angle, even upside down. It is very consistant, reliable, super low profile (I haven't gotten one hopper hit in 1.5 years), it's incredibly light, incredibly versatile (there are so many different mounting options), and it's backed by a company with possibly the best customer service in the industry. I've had to get two replacement parts because I was a little rough with it. When I called, not only did they send me them for free, but they asked me when I would need them to play next. I told them I was playing that Saturday and they had the parts to me by Thursday.

Now the downsides. The Qloader may seem like the perfect loader, but it isn't. It's only drawbacks are that it only holds 100rds and it takes a bit longer to load. The loading thing isn't that bad. You get used to it and you get faster at doing it. The 100rd problem can't be fixed. For this reason, I only reccomend it to frontmen or woodsballers/scenario players. I would not reccomend it for a backman or a "machinegunner" type scenario player. Other than that, it is perfect!

There are other drawbacks as well...   It requires more effort to use and install.  Installation has to be done very carefully, or you won't be able to change pods without breaking balls (unless you shot the whole pod), and you can't easily take the loader off and on or switch between guns.  You more or less commit to a particular setup for a particular gun.

So it is not for the timid.

The pods also don't fit in some packs, so you may have to get a new pack.  Minor issue.

Overall very impressive tech, but not just a drop-in replacement for your Eggo.

What installation? I tightened my Qloader socket onto my gun's forgerip when I got it, loaded a pod, and clicked the pod into the socket. As long as you fully read the manual before use, it's easy as pie. Switching between guns is as easy as loosening and tightening a single screw. It's very versatile as I said before.

If the hose is the wrong length, a ball will be caught in the pod when you twist it off, which will break the ball, which is messy.

The installation consists primarily of getting the hose length right.  If you have more elaborate mounting than attaching it to the foregrip (ASA attachments, body attachments, etc), then removal and reattachment can also be more complicated.

I wanna thank u guys too, ive been wondering about a Q-Loader for quite some time now, but I was wondering can it be attached in some way to a mil-sim gun that has like a mag kit (saying that it has no fore-grip) and no direct asa (Say tou were usiong something like a setup from spec ops, and it only had a quick disconnect for a remote)?  This has put me back for a while now...

Yea. You could use the CMS (Custom mounting socket) and mount the socket to the underside of M4 handgaurds.

Clark, I really didn't have too much trouble getting the hose length right. All of those problems you talked about aren't going to happen if you read the manual correctly.

Granted I have only my own qloader to base my experiences on, I did read the manual.  The manual has a fairly lengthy discussion of proper hose measurement and installation.  I also have spent some time on the qloader forums, and my problem is not unique.  Clearly it is not rocket science to install a qloader - but it is also clearly more complicated than installing a Revvy ("put loader in feedneck").

Oh yeah, but it's worth it. Having to read the manual and understand it all is worth the performance and quality of the product.
