    Posted: 15 February 2006 at 1:58am

I wear glasses. Right now I am wearing a JT with thermal lens and a fan. The glasses stay fog free with the fan being an absolute necessity. But the hinges hit the lens pushing the glasses hard against my face. And getting the glasses through the foam edge of the goggles is difficult...really not enough room.

My wife and son bought me a Proto "Flex?" for Christmas. The fit was worse and the very expensive cool looking fan was a joke which couldn't keep glasses or lens clear (yes, I know, the lens is supposed to be super fog proof...not with the humidity my sweating face produces)

Now, what brand and model of goggles out there fit over glasses, have a thermal lens and a fan that works? Let me add that I have modified the openings around the  goggle edges on the JT so the fan works 300% better than original. The same mods on the Proto did little because the design of the fan is really a joke with no consideration for actual air flow. (but the fan looks cool! Yes, my background is mechanical eng.)

I would love some constructive input. I am not likely to get contacts or have Lasik surgery.

I would strongly suggest contacts. I have not worn anything other than JT so, I can't offer any other type of mask. I currently use a flex 8 but have never worn glasses. Sorry couldn't be much more help

Yeah, i agree with wildgoat. Contacts is the way to go. But failing that just get a mask that is not so close to your face.

Have you tried the Vforce Morph? It has that massive bubble type lense that your glasses should be able to fit inside. I have never teried finding a fan for it though being as the google have never fogged on me.

Morph may be a good solution. Go to your local pb shop and try a few on. You can allways modify your mask to have fans (radio shack).

But you may have to reconcider using contacts just when you play.

I have played with some very small laptop computer fans and could probably make such a design work. The Proto goggles did not have enough room along the edge to attempt placement of a modified fan design without getting into some heavy duty, pull out the calculator, re-design work. May have to go that way.

My son is now wearing soft  contacts, a solution not available when I started contacts as a teenager. It appears that even with no adaptation time I could wear such with no detrimental effects to my eyes for a day of play.

Still, there have got to be some goggles aimed at glasses wearers!

Yea i went threw a good 1-2 month research frenzzy
lookin for a good mask to buy. i ended up buying a
V-force Morph. I cannot say enought about it. It has
NEVER fogged up for me, and someties i play
cenario games that g on for good 1-2 hours so i
think thats pretty good. if you really want the fan there
is PLENTY of space on the top of the mask where
you hook up the forehead guard to the mask.

And about the room for the glasses, the morph has
about 2 1/2 - 3 inches space in the mask between
the googles and your face... so you have plenty of
room for glasses. i have wore sunglasses with them
and the glasses dont even touh the mask. and
theres always the advantage that i love about
almaost all V-force masks is that you can remove the
lenses in like 3 seconds. and clean the really easy
with eges to worry about. and its supper easy to just
buuy new lenses when you need them.

SORRY for the long post but i beleive in sharing
something good when i find it.

OOO anddid i say that it only costs $40 ??

I would definitely recommend any of the V-Force masks, regardless of fan solutions.  Everybody I know that plays with glasses prefers the V-Force masks for that purpose.

I wear JT Spectra Thermal and i can wear sunglasses under it fine.

My friend wears Tippmann Armour goggles, and he wears glasses.

Find something with a soft inner foam, that could be your problem.  My spectra goggles don't push the glasses against my face at all.

Well, I have grabbed every paintball mag in the house looking at players with V-Force goggles. There appears to be a LOT of space, plenty of distance from the face to the inside of the lens. Tomorrow I will see is I can find a local shop that carries them and try them on. Thanks everyone. I have looked before but it didn't register that there was that much room inside!

Except for my local I&I. Also it appears that the Morph has been discontinued. The Morph was highly recommended. It appears that the same lens is used on the Shield.

Now, since my local shop dos not carry the V-Force at all I figured it a good idea to order a spare lens when I purchase the Shield. Anyone know the difference between the rental lens for $10 and the standard clear lens for $20 (and mirrored lens that cost as much as the mask!!!)

Got in contact with V-Force and was told that the Morph has NOT been discontinued. They just cannot keep up with demand and it will be several weeks before manufacture of the next batch.

Ya the morph has not been discontinued..... i doubt it will be discontinued unless they come out with a new line of masks.... which they havent.

I know you are planning on trying one out before you buy it but if you are going to buy it i suggest you shop online or on ebay.. i have seen one for 10 bucks used and free shipping. with a deal like that all you have to do is buy the spare lens...
