with ear plugs you wouldn't be able to hear people around you...you should just play with out them, the sounds not that loud.

All paintball guns are loud. You just have to get used to it.

Here's a cheap, homemade, works anywhere recipe for earplugs. Take a piece of paper and tear out two pieces, about 2" square. Put them in your mouth one at a time and chew them up until they are soft. Roll each one into a ball, and put one in each ear.
These will keep out sound better than any commercially available ear plug, they are more comfortable, and they are free. I used this trick while in the Army, an M2 makes a bunch of noise. |

The only time I would use earplugs is in practice shooting. While playing a game, don't wear them. Communication is one of the most inportant things in paintball, and with earplugs, you won't be able to hear the people around you. And anyway, pb guns aren't loud enough to bother your hearing, at least not for me.

I you think a paintball gun is too loud, maybe another sport would suit you better ... like knitting. |

In a basement? Dry firing, I take it? OK, that makes more sense. Outside, putting paint through it, it will be a good bit quieter. |

Flatlines are louder than most barrels. I think that is the original complaint just not specified in his post.
