Simple question I hope. Is the cyclone feed system the only real reason to get an a5 over a 98? Obviously the cosmetics area bit different but it seems like you can get a modified 98 with some good upgrades for the price of a stock a5. Why would you pay the extra price for the a5?

thats basically why its more expensive..the cyclone feed..and the ability to use the E-grip on it, but I dont really think that would add to the price

the A-5 has a field strip sstem, that allows you to dissamble it in 60 sec. with no tools

Here is a very helpful thread about your question. Just click on the link. How does the A-5 really stack up against the Model 98 Custom? It is the first post in the thread and is very helpful. This will probably answer many of your questions. In my opinion, the A-5 is better. It just comes with more luxuries when you buy it. It is easily field strippable and there are more upgrades for it. I also like the look of the A-5 a little better than the 98c. The cyclone feed is the only major difference but as you can see when they are compared, it isn't the only difference. It's all personal preference. Try both, and see which you like better. But the main reason the A-5's more expensive is because of the Cyclone, and also the overall design of the marker is more complex.

It's personal preference. In my books, the A-5 is almost the exact same price as the 98custom pro. Similar internals, completely inclosed, with a different body, and the cyclone.
Atleast in Canada, the price of an A-5 is between $275 and $300 where the cpro is $200. If you take into account the a-5's cyclone, that's an $80 upgrade (atleast to those who like them, and I love the cyclone. I would put one on the 98 if it was my gun.) Essentially in the worst case scenario, you're paying $20 extra for the new body and inclosed internals, quickstrip etc. So to me, they're completely even price wise. |

I had an A-5 and ditched it because it was a complete dog, and the Tippmann techs could not sort it out. I still have my 98 RT and an E-Bolted 98, which are far better than the A-5 I had ever was. Maybe I just got a dud, but that's my personal experience. |

Thanks for all the input. I just bought the A5 today after shooting them both at the local field. We'll see how it goes but I'm happy with the purchase so far. Here's to hoping that it holds up as well as people have been saying. Now it looks like I'm off to the mods forum to see how to "pimp" my gun out.
