I was just wondering if their was a good product to touch up the origonal paint on my 98 Custom. Some has worn or chipped off and I didnt know if their was a product available to repair the damage.

the best cheap thing to do is break the gun completely down, sand off the paint around the edges and where the chip are so it's not flaking anymore, sand the remaining factory paintjob to "ruff it up" and get some flat black spray paint and go to town. Then wait till she dries and put'er back together. If you really want it to look good, sand it all off till you get to bare metal, making sure to sand with a fine grit sandpaper so you don't leave big scratches. Then go to an auto parts place, get some "self-etching" primer and Duracoat flat black spraypaint. Follow directions on the labels and paint it up! If you really don't want to do all that, then go in your garage and get a can of black spray paint, then spray some on a peice of cardboard box-then use a little water color brush or even your finger to spot a little of the paint on each chip. Good luck!

I looked for it at home depot, lowes, and wal-mart and couldn't find it. They had other brands, but I think the time and effort taken to go to an auto parts place to buy Duracoat will be worth while. It really is a quality product and gives great results if used properly.

i've used both, and i can't say there is much of a difference. i just make sure to spray several light layers of clear coat so that it doesn't scratch as easily.
