i wouldn't use steel wool to polish right away. i Would use like 400 or 500 grit sand paper first(it works alot better and faster) Then i would go with steel wool. it doesn't really matter what size you use. keep using the steel wool untill you are happy at what you got.
For painting i would go to walmart and get paint stripper. So to the automotive section and get a stripper called "aircraft stripper" you will also need some rubber glove so you won't burn yourself. After you do that take 220 grit sand paper and take off all the paint that the stripper didn't take of. Go to advanced auto(if you have one near you) and dupicolor has a "self etching primmer" use that for you primmer and just get what ever other color you are looking for this is how i got mine to look after i use the stripper and sane paper Edited by Gpacker4686 - 27 March 2006 at 2:07pm |

just take your time and don't rush anything. When i did mine i couldn't get all the paint off but you want to get as much off as you can.

I've used a gelatin chemical stripper in the past with good success called "Zip Strip". It will cause the paint to bubble and peal right off the receivers.

I use Acetone, and that works great, especially with the combo of the steel wool and acetone. Here is a link of a great write up with pictures on Painting Your Marker, step-by-step... http://www.a5og.net/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=678&thre adid=1981&enterthread=y and this one is for polishing your Internals... http://www.a5og.net/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=678&thre adid=111&enterthread=y |
