    Posted: 11 April 2006 at 10:52pm
So I need some help. I need a good game that I can wind down with now and then, but that wont require my life to enjoy. I'm thinking about some sort of RPG, just because they're kinda new to me. I also don't really want a strategy type thing, like Rise of Nations. Some sort of character development thing maybe...I'm thinking, more complex and emmersive than Gang Wars but less so than like...WoW. It would be nice if it was free and online, but I might be willing to invest in something.....Help?

Forgot to mention that I'm on an old laptop here. 1.2 gig, 128mb, integ graphics, ect. It's not bad but it's not a gaming machine.

I was looking at EVE Online...Anyone know anything about that?

Well I was going to suggest the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Until you said you were using an old laptop. A FANTASTIC game.

Tremulous Free and open source fragger with some rts type features. It's based off quake 3 engine. It has about a 20 minute learning curve. It's friggin sweet.

Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos.

If you've got a PS2, God of War is a pretty cool time consumer. Lots of puzzles. Try some of the older RPG's, like Diablo II. Games you can sit down and relax, save your game, and come back to later. I bought God of War just for that-I had to work out of town for a week, so I stayed at my sister's place and played GoW late at night just to chill out. Baldur's Gate was awesome.

Me personally I relax with the Gran Turismo games. GT 4 is total addiction-the closest thing to actually owning and building a car engine-wise in real life.

How could I have forgotten Baldur's Gate. The whole Baldur's Gate series for the computer was fantastic. Also a plus a rock could run the game. I highly suggest you play through the series. You could get them all in a package dirt cheap too. 20 bucks. 30 tops.

Black Hawk Down PC's multiplayer has taken up some huge chunks of my time. Unbelievably addictive, plus it runs like a dream on 56K. I've played with 40 players with no lag at all. And you can get it with the expansion pack at Wal-Mart for like $20.

Well then how about Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. I love that game too. I've been sucked in by IV now, but I'll always love Morrowind. Except for all the cliff racers.

You can get a free 14 day trial for Eve. Give me a sec and ill get a link. Mine ran out last week and sent a money order when it did.

Try this or this. One of those should work
