I've posted the same message on the new player forums, but than I thought it might be appropriate here too, and I would also get some responses that I would not get otherwise from people that do not frequent the other forum.

OK, I've limited my options to an unfortunately big group. These are the guns that atleast 3 of my friends and at least 1 person recomended online to me. So each gun received a minimun of 4 recomendations. Also, my budget is around $600 dollars for everything a person starting out needs in the begginning. So I figure around $400 max for a gun.

Edit: Ignore the A-5 and the spyder, now I am just trying to decide between an Ion and an Autococker. But I'm leaning a little more towards the Ion since with the money I save, I can really make it great.

A-5 - I've heard it is a great gun and the only issue that was strongly debated was the flatline barrel.

Autococker - This one received the most recomendations but is also unfortunately one of the more expensive one( I think so atleast). I hear it is versetile and good for speed and woods because of its rate of fire and accuracy.

Ion - I know this will make me look like a newb, but technically I am one, I just want a good gun and it is being bought with my own hard earned  money, so I have no issues with that. The only thing that troubles me is the plastiky look.

Spyder( most likely an Electra)- It looks like a good gun and my friends that have played with it said it was great.

If anyone else knows any other good guns that deserve to be here, please let me know. But otherwise I am hoping to get someone oppinion on these so that I can get one before my friends and I go PBing next weekend. Thanks in advance for the help. A speedy response is really appreciated since I have no idea how ong regular shipping would take for one of these to arrive.

You should check out pbnation.com they have alot of realy nice guns in your price range, thats if you don't mind used gear. Ions are great guns, and there only 200 bucks new leaving 200 bucks for upgrades, such as barrel, trigger, feed neck, drop, qev, and new a board. With these upgrades your ion would rip!
Ion
sanded and bondo'd body
Orange painted body and frame
Dead On Bullet Drop
Evo II
68/4500 crossfire
Evil pipe kit with ultra tip

Is there anything important about used gear that I should know? Like them being less reliable or being at a higher risk of breaking really quick? Thanks for the link.

well first of all, if u have an ion you will look a lot less like a noob than a person with a spyder, and imo autocockers are only good if they are electric, which is out of ur price range.

It really depends on what type of game u play.  An a5 is great in the woods and u can use co2 with it.  However, without firepower upgrades, its not so great for speedball, which is why i got rid of mine (i added a rt but had too many problems with the bolt and sear)  The ion is much better for speedball, and can be used just as well in the woods.  Only thing is that u would need a very fast hopper and a nitrogen tank (u can use co2 but its not a good idea).  So out of the guns u have narrowed it down to, i would go with the ion.

get used

for $400 you could maybe get a DM4 used- ive seen for like $425

HPA youll need about $100 so thats like $500 there in

so you have nothing at all? or do you have a mask, squegee, etc.?

you can also go to pbnation and say you want a package, alot of people getting out of paintball will offer you all there stuff

if you want new, look at the Indian Creek Designs Promaster, now that is a hot gun

if you are just starting out, and primarily play woodsball, i'd say a-5.  If you primarily play speedball, I'd go with a custom pro e.
Tippmann A-5
Polished Internals
E-Grip
Ape Board
JCS Blade Trigger
QEV
8" Bigshot + Apex
Ricochet R-5 / Tac Cap
Palmers Stabilizer
68/4500 Crossfire

I've never played woodsball, just speedball, but woodsball looks like it might be more fun.

Ill tell you what. I have an A-5 and an autococker. I have shoot spyders quite a bit. I would recomend an A-5, no doubt about it. However, to be fair, i don't have any experience with ions so i can't judge them. From what I've heard, they are pretty nice though.

when i first started playing, i was all for woods, even though i played speed, then woods got boring, and i ONLY played speed

then i started getting sick of the A5, i use to think it was great, and indestructable- but, whats the use of having it, if you dont want it, Be happy.  A5s arent really meant to play against shockers, timmys and stuff on speedball, unless you have egrip(i didnt)

ive shot ions before, i loved the feel of the grip frame, and its $40 cheaper

I was weary of buying used too, but i only did it because it was my friends, and i know where he lives if something were to go wrong

get a 98 custom power pack, or a pro-e pack.

You will love yourself later for it.

IT will give you everything you need, and you can work your way up from there.
Sig is WAY too big.

Thanks guys. I guess it is between an Ion and an autococker now. I haven't heard many recomendations for the 98, plus my friend has the basic version and I do not like it's look plus it was really slow and had a really bad acuracy. It is probably just his crappy basic gun, but you know how first impressions are.

I'd like to have both:D. But I'd rather go fo accuracy since one good shot is better than 5 fast but inaccurate shots.

Are you sure about that?

We sold about 50 Ions at the store in the first few months after they came out and 17 of them were returned with some problem or another. If you treat a cocker right, they will be perfectly reliable.
