    Posted: 19 April 2006 at 11:15pm

Tippmann Sports is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2006. The company, originally a manufacturer of collectible, half-scale machine guns, entered the paintball industry in 1986 when new gun laws forced Tippmann to reevaluate its business. At the time, the company’s founders were concerned paintball was just a passing fad. However, it seemed like a natural transition because paintball markers shared many principles with the machine guns Tippmann was manufacturing at the time. Those involved were unaware the move into paintball would eventually catapult Tippmann into an industry-leading name, which would become synonymous with high performance paintball markers and related accessories.

“In many respects, it’s hard to believe we’re celebrating our 20th year,” said Dennis Tippmann, Sr., founder of Tippmann Sports. “Then again, paintball has changed so much since 1986 and become such a passion for everyone at Tippmann, it’s difficult to remember the days before we were 100 percent dedicated to making innovative, durable and affordable products for paintball players around the globe.”

Tippmann Sports has several initiatives planned to help recognize the company’s anniversary, highlighted by the introduction of a limited edition, 20th anniversary paintball marker. Only 3,000 of the unique, commemorative markers will be manufactured. Some of the markers’ most distinct characteristics include a specially developed “mirror black” powder-coat finish, 20th anniversary logos in several locations and gold-plated hardware and gas line. Each marker will also be individually numbered and include a matching display stand as well as a certificate of authenticity from the company. When available in May, the markers are expected to be in high demand among both collectors and paintball enthusiasts.

Tippmann is also planning numerous promotional giveaways on its redesigned Web site throughout the year. Visitors to tippmann.com will be able to register to win a variety of special prizes, including the company’s official 20th anniversary poster, an autographed version of Greg Hastings’ video game for Sony PlayStation and other assorted Tippmann merchandise, such as tee shirts, baseball caps, sweatshirts and jerseys.

“We wouldn’t be in position to celebrate our 20th without the loyal support of everyone who uses Tippmann products,” said Patrick Ehren, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Tippmann Sports. “So, we’re moving forward with our giveaways and other special events this year in recognition of our company’s anniversary, but more importantly, in thanks to paintball players and others in the industry who have given Tippmann Sports so much over the past two decades.”

For additional details about Tippmann’s 20th anniversary or the company’s soon to be launched commemorative markers, please call 1-800-533-4831. More specific information about Tippmann Sports and its complete breadth of products can also be obtained online at tippmann.com.

Since the company’s founding in 1986, Tippmann Sports has been dedicated to quality manufacturing and the pursuit of cutting edge technology and design. Today, the company serves the growing paintball and Airsoft industries from its corporate headquarters in Fort Wayne, Ind. Tippmann Sports’ complete line of paintball markers and related accessories can be found at paintball stores and fields as well as mass retail and sporting goods outlets throughout the world.

its one of those things that sit on something collecting dust as a memorabilia- they should of made like a remake of their first gun, but a little bit better, and priced normal, so people would buy it

I think it's cool, but I agree about the whole price thing. I bet it will be out the roof. I think the audience that they are trying to sell this to is the people that collect markers, not people who are going to go out and play with it regularly. Especially, not with it being gold plated and all.

Not really interested at all in owning that gun. They just took a 98 and made it shiny, slapped on a few 20th anniversary decals, and gold plated some parts (completely pointless).  looks like a waste of money to me. I think Tippmann could have came up with something better to do instead.

thats alot for a 98c considering they go for about 130, if they hit what the a5 costs, for it to just sit on a stand that would be kinda high
