I have not had any trouble with my 98c since I have had it. About 3 weeks ago I put on a response trigger and had no problem with it. This past weekend I was at the fields and every time I pulled the trigger the gun went crazy and I would have to grab the bolt to stop it. I took it apart and I could find no visible reason for the problem. Is there anything that you may know about this that would help me out; I will greatly appreciate any help. |

What does the sear spring look like? That sounds like the problem.

^ or it could be the sear itself. Make sure your sear isn't worn.

ok i know what the sear is but it does not seem worn in any way. i thought i may have mixed up the trigger spring when installing the response trigger but both springs do not work. the sear spring on my gun is the push spring (regular round spring) and not the pull (small spring with the 2 hooks). |

I'm confused. Make sure everything looks like this
Also check the rear bolt. Make sure the edge the sear catches on is square. |

If you look at the bottom of your rear bolt i think you will find its worn. I had the same problem and replaced it with a bolt from an older 98 custom and that did fix it on semi.
I have the same type of spring arrangement you do and replacing the spring didnt work at all. the sear looked fine but there was a distinct section of grooving on the rear bolt. I bought this marker just over a week ago and will be putting it back together to send in for the tech guys to have a look at. |

Ok, I totally get what you mean. I was totally unaware of the spring change. Makes sense...but I still think it is possibly a worn rear bolt. |

It sure can...especially once it starts not catching...it gets exponentially worse.

it may just be a weakened sear spring

rust wouldn't make a difference, its if they're worn or rounded off that they won't catch. |
