Hey guys
Having been here a while I know this topic has come up multiple times, but each person has a different situation so here we go. I have a 98 custom, I have had it for a year(been playing for about 3) now but it is well over a year old( i bought it used in pretty beat up shape). It has held up great but the paint is coming off and screws have come out and its starting to get worn out. I am well aware of the fact that the way a gun looks does not hinder it performance but i am looking to move up any way. Anyway i bought it for 75 bucks and threw a progressive barrel on it. I have a buddy who offered me 75 bucks for it and the barrel and i have an extra 50 dollars lying around and the next paycheck will give me an extra 200 bring me up to about $325. With $360  I can get a new a5, stock, remote,  20 oz tank and a progressive barrel. I could also spend some money on my aging 98.  I wouldn't want to spend hardly as much on the 98 but i would if it is advisable. I play woodsball and am not completely worried about having a real fast gun. I just want something either a little newer or perhaps improve upon the 98. If you think upgrading the 98 would be more feasible please give some suggestions based on the above. I would like to keep the upgrading budget under $150 so suggest accordingly.

                                                                         Thanks guys

I would go with a A-5. It can be upgraded with either a RT or e-grip. Since you all ready have a Tippmann I don't have to tell you about how good they are. I would go with the above stated package. But remember if you get a remote you are also goin to have to get a harness, which will be another $30-40. So think about, if you really need the remote line. If not, spend that money on a double trigger or the like. I hope this helps.

I've got one of those camelbaks. Would work very well to hold a tank.

Then the above stated upgrades sound good.

ya i figured that would be the general responce. seeing as my 98 has served me so well i see it only appropriate to continue to support tippmann. I can't wait. I plan on playing much more this summer now that i have a job and found i can afford a case of paint. Thank guy. Keep posting i'd like to still hear the opinions of others.

i'd advise you to sell the gun if you can get that much for it.  Buy the a-5, but skip on the stock and remote.  A 20oz tank isn't so big or heavy, so just use it as a stock and save yourself some money and trouble.  Then you can invest in a nice aftermarket barrel like a bigshot.
Tippmann A-5
Polished Internals
E-Grip
Ape Board
JCS Blade Trigger
QEV
8" Bigshot + Apex
Ricochet R-5 / Tac Cap
Palmers Stabilizer
68/4500 Crossfire

i've always liked the concept of the remote. It also knocks out my need for an expantion chamber. I was also turned off by the somewhat restrictive mobility with a tank. I am by far no weakling and its not that it is to heavy. With the stock i still have a place to rest my shoulder and it moves the mass that would be below the trigger frame to right behind the gun. I realize that it make it more expenisve but this is probably the last gun i will buy for i while so i'd like to have the option of the stock. For the barrel i think i'll get a 12 inch progressive. I really liked my progressive on my 98, as accurate as any other barrel i've shto with and cheap enough. I have never used the bigshot. How does it compare to these progressive? DO you have any experience with both of them?
