Hey, guys. Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this.
Question: I have a Tippmann 98C with a 14 inch J&J barrel. Thats it for upgrades. Anyway, even with the new barrel the grouping from my shots are in about 2-3 foot circle from 40 feet away. I would like to improve my accuracy because it's to expensive to just shoot 500 paintballs at 1 target because you cant hit them. Anyway, How do I improve my accuracy besides getting another barrel. My budget is $50, so no palmers for me .Thanks guys, and gals. |

all i cant think of is, well the barrel, or the paint your using. What paint are you using anyway? because paint makes a difference in accurate shots and inaccuate shots sometimes.

I forgot about the paint. I think I got ripped off since I'm pretty knew to paintball. It was in an unmarked box at the pro shop, mid range price. shot fine out of my friends markers though. I dont think im shooting over 300 fps either. I havent chrono'd in awhile though.

You Need to chrono. What barrel you have is only part of teh problem to
achieve accuracy. Make sure the paint fits your barrel!!! Thats
probably one of the most important factors, along with consistancy. I'd
get at least an expansion chamber if I was you. An anti-siphon would
help too.

Make sure you have a paint to barrel match in size. Here is a good site that will help you get the right sized pain for you barrel. http://http://www.ottersccustoms.com/paintc.html |

Drill holes in your feedneck it reduces kick which will make for better accuracy. Here's how to do it: http://model98.org/mods/portfeed.php

Sounds like bad paint. Try some Draxxus through it.

Thanks guys. I did all the paint to bore tests with the paint i used. It fits pretty well. I have a micrometer that can measure the inside of the barrel if that will help?
" Drill holes in your feedneck it reduces kick which will make for better accuracy. Here's how to do it: http://model98.org/mods/portfeed.php" does that really work? How does that reduce kick? Unless HPA is going for <$50 then I cant afford it. Noob question alert! Would polishing my internals help with accuracy at all? I have a dremel, and its the first day of summer. Just wondering if it would help. Edited by eRock08 - 28 May 2006 at 10:51pm |

I can't see how holes in the feedneck will reduce kick. It does help prevent blowback, which helps prevent chopping if you are using a gravity feed. Polishing the internals may help because it tightens up the consistency of the shot, but you would be best off buying a new barrel and getting paint that fits. |

Your internals will polish themselves over time.
