    Posted: 06 June 2006 at 9:23pm

My grandfather got me a red dot for my paint ball gun (Tippmann A5) and wants me to put it on my gun. But the mount on the bottom of the site is too big for my off sight, and if I put it on the rail on the gun I cant see it. I think the mount is 4.5 mm but i need it to fit on the rail that is 3/8 whatever the off site lapco  is.

The red dot is tasco red dot 1 x 30

If any one could tell me away how to put it on or something that would be alsome.

Dan

Call them and ask! There are only two sizes, 7/8" and 3/8". The 7/8" is called the Weaver style. The 3/8" is typically called the "tip-off" mount and is commonly found on 22 rifles. The 98C has both, but the 7/8" usually has a cross bolt  that either has to be relocated higher in the clamp or a groove must be cut in the top of the receiver for clearance.

So far no one knows of an off site rail or something I can up on the site that will go on my off site rail that I have already. I do not want to mount the site on the top of the gun b/c its too hard for me to use!

Lapco makes an offset sight mount!

A-5 / Model-98 Offset Sight Mount

Our offset sight mount is perfect for mounting a scope and a flashlight, or any combination of things you may need. One rail is 3/8" and the other is a weaver mount with picatinny rails. Fits both Tippmann A-5 and Model-98.

and

3/8" to 7/8" Rail Adapter

This adapter allows both small and big rail accessories to be used on the LAPCO offset sight mount. This part works on the A-5, Tippmann 98, and Spyder offset sight mount. Offset sight mount not included.

(Wow, Lapco does NOT make it easy to repost their photos)

The problem with that site rail/handle is it raises it so much that the hopper is in the way of the red dot scope.. Do what i did and go to http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?i d=0018878711575a&type=product&cmCat=search&retur nPage=search-results1.jsp&Ntk=Products&QueryText=sco pe+mount&Nty=1&cm_cat=Google&No=40&Ntt=scope +mount&noImage=0&cm_ven=Performics&Ntx=matchall& amp;_requestid=24787&cm_pla=optics_riflescopesaccessorie s&N=4887&cm_ite=scope%20mount&cmCat=perf&rid =0180101070502  This will fit on your gun and it fits pretty much any scope.  Its the perfect height for the gun as well.

It comes as a set of two though, i accedently bought two thinking that it would only come with one, but i got two packs of two.
