I recently got to play my first official day of paintball with my new A5.  There were some issues which I could not figure out.  When I went to chrono with a full co2 tank it would read like 295, next shot 272, next shot 248, next shot 272; like that.  I know that there are inconsistancies with velocity with co2, but i did not think that much.  Also, when I was playing, I noticed that my balls were curving a bit and not flying very straight (but there was not ridiculous curvature either).  I was using a 14 inch JJ ceramic barrel for the 98 custom and a Lapco 98custom barrel adaptor (to put the 98 barrel on my A5) and I did not break one ball with it all day.  I was thinking of maybe renting a nitro tank next time and seeing if that makes the difference.  Also, I was thinking of getting a rear velocity adjuster as well (ps does anyone know where I can get one that stays on, the one from tippmannparts is weird or something). Also, I bought one of those Ricochet hoppers for the a5, i then had problems that often, the lid would pop open with every shot I took.  I guess I could fix that with a rubber band, but I just figured I'd see if anyone knew what could be causeing any of these problems.

That is the CO2 cuasing those inconsistancies.

What exactly does a regulator do when your running Nitro (compressed air)?

It regulates the pressure, making the velocity more consistant.

had the same problems when I first used my A5 with CO2.  Switching over to compressed air with a regulator really made a big difference.

It almost sounds like the paint you were using was a little too tight in the bore.

If the paint is too tight it might tend to deform the paint a bit and make it do tricks in the air.  Also, with no path for the air/co2 projecting the ball to go (sealed fully behind the ball), it'll look for the next best place to escape... which is up through the hopper.

I was using classic origin out of a 14inch JJ ceramic Barrel for a 98c with a lapco barrel adaptor to fit it on the a5.
