Was thinking about getting the dark horizon titanium hammer for my custom pro. Was wondering what experiences people have had or have heard. My marker has cyclone, QEV, super r/t, aka sidewinder, shocktech superfly, nitro. Would I need madman spring kit for this hamer?

Search about titanium hammers. Since there is zero advantages to getting one, I don't suggest it.

I've heard negative reports on the titanium hammers. No first hand knowledge however. If your running out of upgrades, get the LPK.

Stock internals are best for Tippmanns.

I bought one... I like it. I was told that it makes the gun go faster than the r/t but it doesn't really. It does make the gun go a little faster though, maybe like 2 bps faster, it will probably be even faster with the green spring from the maddmann spring kit. (I will put the green spring on soon). There is reduced recoil, acctually there is hardly any recoil at all now with this hammer. I can shoot plenty of shots in a row and stay right on target. The gun is of course a little lighter too. I bought a maddmann spring kit just in case I needed it because I read that many people said it was better to have it. I haven't used the spring kit with the titanium hammer yet but I will and I will probably use the green spring so that the trigger pull will be lighter. Here I will summarize my thoughts on this hammer. - Supposedly it helps accuracy a bit - I help’s accuracy a lot for consecutive shots because of reduced recoil. - The gun is lighter. - The hammer can cycle quicker because its lighter (therefore more bps). - Sounds very smooth with my polished internals and is much quieter than stock hammer. - It helps with gas efficiency because it requires less gas to push the hammer back into cock position because it is 60% lighter than the stock hammer. Overall I like it and think it was a great upgrade for my gun. That is my opinion of the hammer and everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Another opinion I have is that: I think that if people haven't tried something they shouldn't diss it. Edited by phil_stl - 22 June 2006 at 8:02pm |

Okay the reason I haven't tried my Dark Horizons Hammer with any of my maddmann springs yet is cause I just got them in the mail. and also because I took my gun apart to do the superlight 98 mod and before I put my gun back toghether I am still waiting to get the shocktech superfly bolt and a T fitting for my r/t to work with my cyclone on my 98 custom. That way I don't have to take my gun apart again in a couple days to put the two upgrades on. (I guess I'm just lazy). So could you just let me know what you think about the shocktech superfly bolt. Has it really improved accuracy for you? Should I be aware of this bolt doing anything else other than improving accuracy and CO2 efficiency (because of the internal o-ring inside the bolt)? Thanks |

I have no experience with the LPK. The madman springs work with it? I was under the impression the LPK came with the lightest spring possible.

The LPK comes with the rear cocking hammer, which means the standard or maddmann drive springs will not work with it.

I am not trying to flame you or be a jerk in any way so dont be offended. but the Hammer really doesnt have much to do with accuracy, if the hammer was hanging up sometimes and not others then it could affect your consistancy but that is unlikely. second the titanium hammer is only 17 grams lighter then the stock hammer, how much recoil could 17 grams reduce and i really doubt that anyone could tell a 17 gram difference in weight of a marker seeing how if your proshop fills your tank half an ounce more that is well over 17 grams. and a tippmann marker will use the same amount of gas to recock the marker unless you modify the valve and power tube to divert blow back gas back into the power tube. or somhow modify the valve to not let as much blow back gas out in the first place. and last. a super fly bolt will not change your gas usage at all. the gas usage is only affected by the mass of the hammer in relation to how stiff the drive spring and valve spring are. If you change one you have to change them all. (eg. if you put in a lighter hammer then you have to increase the spring rate of your drive spring to make it hit the valve harder to make it open up long enough for you to get the right velocity, or alternatly you could lighten the spring rate of the valve spring however none of those changes would increase gas useage Edited by darkmaster - 24 June 2006 at 5:10am |

Okay well then maybe I just wasted my money. Whatever I bought it now and it is supposed to be 60% lighter and I though the recoil was quite a bit less than before. People also do the lighter hammer mod. I though it was helping maybe it was a waste. Now that I have it though, what do you suggest I do the my maddmann spring set. Should I go with the heavier sping red or the lighter spring green? I was thinking going with the green spring?!?!

to tell what spring to use you have to see wich one will give you the velocity range you want. You will have to use a stiffer drive spring in order for your lighter hammer to open the valve for the correct time to give you 270fps |

i dont realy think it saves gas......u need a heavier spring to get the momenton of the stock one to shoot, therefore mostlikely needing the same amount of air to push it back cuase of resistance |
