i find it impossible to aim with my stock and mask, I end up just watching the balls from over top of the gun and trying to compensate after each shot do these after market sight rails actually work? I mean are they actually used to look and aim down, or just for mounting other mods? can you get them so they are actually accurate? is this one any good? or are they basically all the same

yea, theyre not that great, that particular one is used on the m16 assault rifle, your supposed to use the peep hole with the front sight on the front of the barrel, using just that is kind of ineffective. sights overall are pointless, since it depends on the amount of air in the tank, so pretty much youll be compensating a lot. that stuff is pretty much for mil-sim, not for actual sighting, but i guess it could be done... |

GI is right, see if you got that, you would want to then get a M16 barrel shroud so then you could actually aim good. I have this same problem with my stock, so i took it off, until i can mod it. i have a BT folding stock. and by modding it i mean using little washers to lower the thing a little bit until i have enough room to get my mask down. then measure how big of a gap and have my bro make a threaded piece to go in it, more sturdy.
and another thing, what kind of mask do you have? cuz some masks may be better to get your head more down so you can see the sights. cuz i saw this one guy could see fine with his Car stock on his A-5. don't know what mask he had though.... |

Just take your gun sometime and shoot like 500 rounds at a target and you will have a good idea where the balls are going to go when you fire.

You could always take the stock off and use your tank as a stock instead...
That rail, like stated above, is only a rear sight, you'd need something to line it up with at the tip of the barrel. |

aaah ok, so it wouldn't do me any good except for maybe looking good and using it as a handle, and I'm buying a lapco bigshot barrel when I go pickup my gun so it wouldn't help I'm in the market for those new Flex-8 camo masks, I just using some pos i got with my gun, no thermal lens on it so it fogs like crazy I love the look of my stock and also find is easier to use then just using a the small 12 ounce tank. I find it easier to run with and keep the gun aligned with what I need it to, its just a few times I need to look down the sight for a one or two precision shot and it wasn't working Edited by adblink - 14 July 2006 at 12:22am |

what are you talking about? how does getting a remote make it so he can put it in front of his face exactly how he wants it. the remote just moves the tank off his gun. and he still has the stock so he really couldn't put it anywhere in front of his face. |

Invest in a raised sight rail and any of the cheap red dot type sights. This will bring the sight into a higher position, allowing it to be used with a mask on.

you cannot attach those red dot sights on this one right? it needs to be like the lapco ones? also does those red dot sights ACTUALLY work? I had one for my pellet gun and it was **edited**, you could never get it lined up properly |

Don't use a $2 red dot. Find a nice $20+ one.

Im not sure who makes them but someone makes a side mount. It moves the red dot up and over to the left about 2 or 3 in. so you can still use a stock much easier.

If you want to use a sight and a stock correctly then you will definitely need a raised rail. I used a BT raised sight rail and Simmons 20mm Red dot combo for several years with a lot of success. What ever you do.. don't get a scope. |

One shot, One kill.... Oh, wait. What fun is that? TEN shots, one kill, and a bunch of welts on your back.

ya I originally was thinking scope but got out of that idea fast so these red dot things, are they easy to setup? I mean you must waste a whole hopper trying to get them to shoot on target, then what, as soon as it hits something, you have to go through the whole process again right? also just making sure, it just basically puts a red dot on the interior of the glass inside the sight right? |

Hm. For someone who has never used a red-dot, you just hit the nail on the head! I've never really found the point of a site, and I've used my fair share from scopes to red-dots, and it is SO much easier just to sight it down your barrel... And since you mention you like stocks, may I suggest a gas-thru or grip-mounted t-stock? It doesnt give the look of real gun, but it's adjustable, comfy and doesn't get in the way of the mask.
