took out my gun today ready to test my new barrel, 12oz completely full, after firing roughly 50-75 shots, tank is completely empty i never heard any hissing, although i never really stopped and listened. i maintain it fairly well, (put lube on the moving parts inside gun and o-rings) this is the second time its happened. the first time i thought nothing of it because i had a slow leak in the asa due to crud inside. the first time, i simply figured i lost more than i thought i did. but now i know better. HELP! plz. if nobody can help, should i just call tippmann? or take it to a local shop?

im not the best with this stuff my i can try and help. you said there was crud in your asa, so my first suggestion would to clean that out, i dont know if that would help at all or not. then if i was you i would take the marker apart, check that everythings tight and secure, oil your o-rings,dont forget the one on the tank, fill the tank and listen really carefully for leaks

by the way, thats an awesome avatar

thanksim a bit of a gun fanatic. part of the reason i started playing paintball, for the tactics and whatnot. anyway i cleaned out the crud in the asa, and it seemed to stop leaking. the leak in the first place was barely noticeable anyway. (i had to put my ear right up to it to hear it well) it wasnt your typical agressive leak. once i finished cleaning it i went home, stored it for a few weeks, went out and played and about 100 shots later my gun started farting. This was before everything started getting bad. oh well, musta lost more in the leak than i thought. went inside and took it apart just to make sure nothing obvious had busted (o-rings etc) never noticed anything. unforetunately i had no lube on me at the time. Anyway, i just lubed it up just then and i also tightened one of the screws that keeps the power tube in place, im unsure if that was the problem or not, but im about to go gas it up again using my brother's tank, gonna listen carefully for leaks. will update as needed.

UPDATE: alright, just gassed it up again and there is no leak. My brother didnt want me firing off any shots so i dont know if its fixed or not. but there are no audiable leaks. I'm hoping this is a good thing and that something isnt terribly terribly wrong with it.

If you were firing the marker without any paint, dry firing, the tank will empty very fast. Particularly if you are playing around with high rates of fire. I have blown through a 20 oz in about 150 shots while practicing walking the trigger with no paint going through the marker.

The resistance of the ball traveling through the barrel slows the amount of gas that escapes with each shot. High ROF also dumps liquid CO2 through the marker further speeding up the depletion of your tank.

A small, barely perceptible leak is not the source of such rapid depletion of the CO2.

dry firing a little bit wont really hurt anything, especially if its just a few shots to see if its working.

one thing you could do i remember reading about was put a very light couat of soapy water all over your gun so that if there is a leak, you can detect it easier

tightening that one screw may be all you needed

im a gun fanatic too, its one of the reasons im gonna go into the army, you get to play with some fun stuff

woot, im a celebrity i cant remember exactly, if you really want me to, i could find it for you....might take awhile though. As for dry firing, i barely did any, 5 shots tops, and that's including when i take off the tank. As for ROF, i was taking my time. I was out target practicing and testing the accuracy of my new barrel. so i was leaving the ROF down to 1-2 bps. I'm fairly certain that there isnt a leak. well, at least not anymore. i never heard anything at all while it was gassed up. I'm gonna get my tank filled again soon and give it another go. Hopefully the tightened screw was all i needed.

EDIT: I decided to be generous and took a whopping 30 seconds of my time to find the avatar site http://avatars.jurko.net/ i think that's it.some them are pretty bad, but every now and then you can come across a gem

That is the address of his avatar. If you right click on any image or gif and many other things, hit properties it shows up with the address and size. BTW Blitz I believe that the avatar limit is 20K yours is 64K. I personally I wanted to use this. But it happens to be 10 MB.

Are you sure that the pace that is filling the tank is doing it correctly? I have run across a lot of places that do not know how to slightly fill and purge to cool the tank before actually filling it.

wow....alrighty then...gun appears to be magically fixed. Just screwing around i put my tank back on to get used to the length of it and the gun pressurized. So now the gun is shooting fine and the co2 tank is magically filled all's well that ends well....confusing though

Yes, I had the address by doing exactly that. But, I was hoping that there was an origin for the action depicted that might lead to some in-depth info on what event generated the sequence.

I've dry fired alot and I have never depleted a co2 tank that fast.

Did you try recocking the gun after the farts?

Does it shoot good after the recocking, then slowly act like its loosing pressure again?

If so, your valve bolts might be loose.

^it acted like the tank was completely empty. If i recocked it, it just went forward as if it wasn't pressurized. But I think the loose screw was the problem and it appears to be working fine now.

Wait, you only have one valve bolt in?

I would definatly try to get ahold of another one.

The problem is that the force of the hammer/bolt hitting the valve(with no bolts) pushes the valve far enough from the bolt to stop it from getting enough force to push the valve pin in.

Try also putting soap like dish Dertergent around all asa connections on the fittings and also where it goes into the valve. If its leaking you will see bubbles being made on the connections.
