So the other night I was going to go see Clerks2 again.
They didn't card me the first time, but my friend who I was going with said they carded her. So, I check just to make sure that the little brown leather ID holder that my drivers license is in, as well as my UCF ID. It, of course, is not there. I think, man, I bet it is in the little flap-thing in my glovebox, I do put it there some times. Nope. So I spent the better half of yesterday tearing my car, my mom's car, my room, the computer room, my bathroom, and the kitchen apart trying to find it. Alas, it is gone. Now, its really not a big deal, the license and UCF ID are only 10 bucks to reprint. Its just the fact that 1) The DMV is closed on Mondays, 2) I dare not drive to work all the way in Orlando with no license so I am stuck at home, and on the other spectrum, 3) I was planning on buying my school books, but I cannot with no student ID. This is causing me much useage of inappropriate language. |

A roundabout way to get to your topic, but I like it.
I hate losing stuff like that. Especially when you lose enough of them, such as in a wallet, that you don't have sufficient ID to get new ID. |

That was sort of my thought process. I kept my ID's in a seperate holder thing than my wallet, in case someone stole my wallet I would not be sans any ID at all. I guess the plan backfired. |

This is a really lame situation. I forgot the DMV was closed on monday. Just hurry down there tomorrow morning and try to survive. I always have to wait for hours at the DMV. Even when I had an appointment to get my license, I had to wait like two hours.

I have have had one, and only one, good experience with the DMV.
I needed to get my car tags renewed. I of course waited until the very last day to go there, and of course it was packed, with the line running out the door. I was also late for work. Basically I had just screwed myself and there was no way in hell I thought I could get my tags taken care of that morning. That's when I spotted the DMV drop box, and it didn't say specifically when it was checked, but I had no choice, and I dropped my envelope in there. I was shocked as hell when I got my tag sticker the next morning in the mail. No two and a half hour line for me and no driving on expired tags. |

Lucky man. I have had no good experiences. When I got my learners Permit, I had to wait five and a half hours to take the test. I really, really don't like the DMV.

Well I could order a new one. The thing is, It says that it could take up to 7 work days. I do not want to wait at home 7 work days. I need some moneys. I don't think the DMV will take that long if I just go. The one I go to, it is set up where one counter is for renewals and re-prints, anda seperate counter on the other side of the building is for getting brand new permits (the long bit). |

You can get a new one the day you go there. And the re-prints take no time at all. Those people are in and out in no time.

Our DMV is set up so that I could go in there with a friend to get my license, he could follow along as I took the eye test or whatever, and we could simply switch places to get the picture taken. It's really amazingly simple, and incredibly stupid of them.
Boom, state issued fake ID for $14. Not good for speeding tickets or anything, but it would get you into any bar in the country. Edit: Then again, Kansas isn't up to par with the rest of the world when it comes to security. At KCI airport I watched as the lanky guard they had on duty took the large travel mug from a man passing through the metal detector, and then handed it back to him on the other side, not passing it through any kind of x-ray machine or opening it up. There could have been a fully loaded gun or other weapon in a baggie in the mug, and a plane easily under threat of hijacking. Not that KCI is a big threat for that, but still, take some kind of precaution. Edited by reifidom - 24 July 2006 at 11:43am |

Ugh. I just was reminded of something, looking at the DMV website. I am going to get one of Florida's new licenses. They are fugly, and do not even look like a drivers license. They all used to look like this (Yes I know the sample says "not a drivers license, but they all used to look like this, now just the personal IDs do):
Now they all look like this, which to me, looks like a Disney park hopper pass, not a legit drivers lisence.
I was the last year issued the nice looking ones.... Edited by Tae Kwon Do - 24 July 2006 at 12:24pm |

Same here when I got my first one.
Working at a convenience store we had a booklet of all the state's ID's, and some of them are really ugly. A couple of states have the picture area in the shape of the state itself, and the picture is framed by it, sometimes cutting off part of your head. |

I've never had a problem with the DMV, maybe about a 15 minute wait to
take learners test, and maybe a half hour for my liscense.

Dislexia rocks. When I first read the original post I read UFC permit. Naturally I was astounded and liked you ten fold more. Then I read how you could not get your books without your school permit and realized my mistake.
