It'll look much better if you do. I've removed the powder coating from a few of my 98's and have come up with this technique. I use a spray on paint stripper you can find a walmart. Spray it, let it sit 15-20 min, the get some rubber gloves and a scotch-brite pad and go to town. Repeat if necessary. Then all you should need is a light sanding to have a good surface for priming. It beats hours of endless sanding. |

One shot, One kill.... Oh, wait. What fun is that? TEN shots, one kill, and a bunch of welts on your back.

go to lowes/home depot and get paint stripper-with a toothbrush you can take all the paint off in 20 minutes. then paint it using duplicolor self etching primer, duplicolor paint and duplicolor clear coat, and it will work great, im not working for them or anything, its just that they are the best

A decent paint stripper and about 15-30 minutes should get you down to the bare aluminum. From there, you'll want a good primer, spray paint, and clear coat/sealant. Take your time while painting and get it even...I've seen several rushed paintjobs around...

i know duplicolor is apparently the best, but is it expensive to get the prime, paint, and sealant all from them? i havent checked into it but if they are a little pricy, what else do you recommend? |

You should. I used tremclad primer, and a few random paints... And varnish. Just don't buy the cheapest stuff, get some decent stuff like tremclad atleast. |
