I know that many of you believe that the paintball sniper does not exist because the accuracy range benefit of a sniper rifle to a normal paintball gun is only a 20% difference, in the real world sniper rifles are over 4x as effective in range as normal rifles. but i don't care.

i want to upgrade my stock tippmann a-5 into a sick sniper rifle because i am not the type of player that wasts rounds. cost is pretty much not a factor and i want your opinions as to what i should add to it.

thanks

What are you trying to achieve?  That will help us determine what to suggest.

If you are looking to add range, then Apex and Flatline are your only two choices at the moment.  Neither of those, however, will be as accurate as the best straight barrels - so you have to choose.

You can install damping devices in your internals, which will quiet the gun down a bit, but may lead to FOD and reduce consistency/accuracy.

And so on.  So you have to figure out exactly what you mean by "sick sniper rifle" first.

I am looking for a gun with a really high distance/accuracy ratio that does not have to be particularily quiet, i just want the shots i take to be as consistant as possible at the greatest possible effective range.

^Not really...

I'd suggest a Flatline, flatline shroud, bipod, stock, tac-cap, remote, and scope(if you're that into it). Lose the forgrip and you're set to go on your sniper ways...

Pumpker'd; (V.) When a pump player runs up and shoots you at point blank range because you thought 20bps made you good.

With a Flatline/Apex, you are going to need more than one shot, most likely...

how bout instead of shooting longer distances to get someone out, you be sneaky and get close to them without them knowing, then shoot them with a normal 14" barrel or somethin. long ranges just arent gonna work if you want consistent shots.

Speaking of the Flatline......is there some trick to it?? Had one on my old 98, and on my a-5....but the freakin' things just don't hit the same spot each time.........like every 3rd shot or something. Is it b'cause I still use Co2??

the flatline is not very accurate, you have to use marbs or eveil paint, and nitro to get anywhere near accuracy, as bassist said, just get close and use a 14 inch barrel, as for other ups i think sinister north has you covered

The flatline works quite well, and for long ranges it is the choice.

Accuracy is dependant on paint choice, and carefully tuned velocity. HPA is more consistant than Co2.

Flatlines are loud. They sound like no other barrel, so the moment you take a shot people will know who and where you are.

Don't bother with a scope. It's more trouble than it's worth, and it will eventually get contaminated with paint to the point that it will no longer work.

This is the best advice in this thread so far. If your stated goal is to reduce paint consumption, a barrel with long-range capabilities isn't ideal for this. If you're shooting at longer ranges, hit probability is going to go down no matter how accurate your marker is. your best bet is to increase consistancy. I'd suggest a HPA tank and/or a good regulator and good barrel. While you're at it consider reducing your paint capacity down to a 45 round hopper or a tac-cap for an A-5. When you play with limited paint, you quickly learn that to make your shots count, it pays off to get closer. Making your gun as accurate as can be will reduce your chance of misses at close range more than it will really extend your range. Try not to fire outside of 20 yards and fire no more than two balls at a time.

I play like this when my wallet hurts, or to punish myself for wasting too much paint in one game. I do this for a while, then go back to a high ROF gun with large capacity hopper and suddenly I'm more effective than when I started the day with it.
