IT Basically changes liquid co2 into its gas form which is what your gun shoot. and may even get you some more shots per tank.

it makes more room for the liquid co2 to change into the gas, cuz liquid co2 isnt very good for your gun

An expansion chamber(as the above have said) converts most of the
liquid CO2 into air. Now they sell different stage expansion chambers.
1,2,4,6,and 8. 8 would be the better since it has more stages. The more
stages it has the more time it allows the liquid to convert into air. A
good 8 stage expansion chamber is an X-core made my Dead On Paintball.
Now with an expansion chamber, obviously it will help your gun by not
getting any liquid into the internals and runining O-rings and freezing
everything up. It will also give you more consistancy with your shots.
You will get more shots out of a tank with it on your gun.
