After being told so much on the Flatline I have just a few more questions and I believe it belongs on a new thread. If oil somehow get's into the Flatline do I have to swab it or will it eventually dry up. I heard someone talk about putting it in a dish-washer and washing it with dish-terigent.. is this right and why would you do it? If a paintball breaks in the Flatline do I just swab it or do I have to rinse it with hot water? and will OIL permantly hurt the Flat-Line for the A-5? Thanks.

Oil will not permantly hurt the flatline. But if you do get oil in the
barrel just wash is out with some water and swab it out. That's all you
have to do when you clean your flatline. Just some water and a barrel
swab. If a paintball breaks in it do the same thing. Don't throw it in
the dishwasher, thats for lazy people that obviously don't care.

Alright, which is better to use cold or hot water? and should I do this normally even if a ball dosen't break in it? aka will it help the surface?

Hot soapy water will remove oil and busted paintballs from the inside of your barrel .Be somewhat careful of scrubbing too much , its the texture of the bore in the flatline that makes it work , eventually it will wear and need to be "Refinished" by Tippmann . the less agressively you scrub , the longer the textured surface should last . For the removal of oil from the bore of any barrel, its best to use soap , oil isnt soluble in water alone . For quick in-game clean ups , a swab wont hurt at all , its much better than leaving the offending material in the barrel . If possible , between matches or "insertions" if you play scenario , I'd try to wash out a broken ball and dry the barrel as well as time permits . |

Hm.. if on the field how on earth would I dry it? I would need multiple swabs... also is any type of soap bad? And how many rounds can I fire before I have to send it to Tippmann to "Bead Blast" it again? Also, do balls break often in the Flatline? I heard the Tippman guns barely EVER break balls compared to Autocockers, Spyders, and so forth so does this barrel up the number of broken balls?

Hey, dude, do you always ask questions then fail to read the answers? You must have read my answer in your duplicate topic or you wouldn't have come up with the knowledge about "bead blasting." Do you remember seeing the numbers 200,000 to 300,000 rounds through the barrel. Oiling the gun w\ Flatline barrel on? From the goofy questions you are asking under this topic you must be drinking too many Red Bulls. Did I say wash the barrel with soap and water at the playing field? Since I told you to dry it with a paper towel push through, why would you ask here how to dry it? Did I not say the hot water, dish detergent and squeegee were to be used periodically as over TIME residue from the ball shells builds up on the textured inner surface of the barrel...did that really imply to you that this cleaning method was to be done during play? Cleaning your Flatlne with Dawn (as good as any) dish detergent, hot water and a squeegee is not going to wear it out in your lifetime...
(Dang, is there an emoticon for sarcasm? Otherwise I'm sure all the good, the bad and the ugly went over his head. There has gotta' be a way to install post filters on these forums? |

Actually Bruce, I basically started this one off for anyone else looking for answers to Flatline Maintence. If you remember the thread you told me the stuff was in a thread called "Oiling With Flatline" or something. I believed it would be good if this one would be a sticky so everyone who visits knows how to maintence a Flatline. I was re-asking all the basic questions so that on a obvious titled thread "Flatline Barrel Maintence" anyone looking for questions on maintaining the barrel would come into it and have the answers HERE. I understood everything you said and I am just re-asking them so that anyone else looking at them can also get the answers they need without posting another thread. Hopefully you remotely understand that and it'll put your sarcasm six feet under

*sigh* whatever lol, I learned from what you said and appreciated it, I just did an act to HOPEFULLY help others since I'm sure any new-comers to the Flatline wonder about it since it is so much differen than most other barrels. So far you're response's seem to be the most informative and explain the most and actually make sense so don't take any offense to what I said above. Sorry if I offended you in some way.
