Topic: IE on OSXPosted: 22 August 2006 at 7:40pm |

So I am in this math class. The teacher uses a program called MathXL, which will only work on Internet Explorer. I need the program to do various homeworks and quizzes and such.
The problem is, I am on a Mac. I tried running it on Firefox and it flips out. It says they are porting it to run on other browsers and OS's by spring time, which does me no good now. What can I do to make IE run on OSX? It looks like they discontinued it, but is there still any copies out there? I am about to go talk to some people in the public access labs, and maybe the library, but I have a feeling they will look at me funny if I tell them I need to download something like that. Ditto with suitemates. Help me. Edited by Tae Kwon Do - 22 August 2006 at 7:43pm |

Opps, not available for download. I'll update with a working link. But in the mean time, try safari. Edited by Cedric - 22 August 2006 at 7:50pm |

It says, once I drag the installer to the HD, "insert the disk or connect to the server volume and wait for the icon to appear on the desktop, then try again" |

Snap, this might be a problem that since microsoft stopped updating/ making IE, and now you're on intel os x, it wouldnt be universal.

There is software available that makes IE only sites think that Firefox is IE. Some guys on the Ubuntu forum were talking about it once.
That's really lame though that you're being forced to use proprietory Windows software. One of the reasons I really can't stand Microsoft anymore. Edited by Benjichang - 22 August 2006 at 8:25pm |

IE in OS X Firefox requires you actually have IE. Try Opera. |

I figured it out with him on AIM, but get this.
The math site detects your OS, and if its not windows, it wont work for you. He has IE and everything, but nope, windows only! |
