Yay garbage day finds!

So I've been eyeing this CPU for a few days now.  Its been sitting on my neighbor's driveway with a monitor (thankfully no rain and not that much sun, mild temps up here).   I was optimistic and today I snagged it.

Looking at it from the outside I may have lucked out!  No rust or corrosion on the outside.  Its an eMachine with a Celron D inside with Windows XP Home edition and the CD key on the outside. 



Opening it up its better then I hoped.  The thumbscrews felt like they were still factory tight.  Its perfectly clean inside as well, still has a hard drive too.



I'm hoping it just has a virus or driver issue and they didnt know what to do, or they decided to upgrade and thew it out.  I'll report back once I've tried to start it up.

Well, shes running beautifully, save for the graphics.  Looks like some brillient person decided to mess with the drivers so its all in 16 color mode.  Its also loaded with kid games, AOL crap and random junk.

I'm debating between a server or a few other options right now, I'm still amazed they threw this out.

I wished my neighbors threw out expensive trash...

All we've ever snagged was a couple Tykes (sp?) cars (for little kids)

Thats a good find.  I found a desk chair once dumpster diving, but we left it on my friends front porch because he was always complaining he needed a new chair.
