most gun oils should be okay. nitrile and urethane (o-rings) are more chemically resistant than a lot of alarmist paintball players make them out to be.

I know MOST oils are okay but there is supposed to be a "RIGHT" oil to use on the Tippmanns and I thought it was Hoppes Elite Gun Oil

Yeah, It's supposed to be just "Hoppes Gun Oil" However I think Hoppes renamed their regular gun oil to "Hoppes Elite Gun Oil" If anyone can tell me if this is true or not please do!

Gee, I don't think I have ever seen anyone second guess himself so many times over such trivial points. Do you actually need someone to  post the UPC number for the oil? Hoppe's Oil is the "right stuff."

I will say without qualification that ANY oil will work and none will cause instant destruction of any "O" ring seals in the marker. Any long term damage to any seals or seats will be indistinguishable from normal wear and tear over the same period of time...even WD-40  (no, it doesn't dissolve "O" rings) or cooking oil will work, but Hoppe's lubricates better.

Ok, Bruce. What I meant was does Hoppes make a NORMAL gun oil and then the ELITE Gun Oil? And is the ELITE version (If it's not the same) ok for Tippmanns

Nevermind, I can't seem to find ANYONE that uses Hoppes NEW Elite Oil on their Paintball Gun's, I'll just try to find some #9 around here hopefully the local gunstore carries it since none of my walmarts do :-\ I'd rather be SAFE than be SORRY because I absolutely LOVE my A-5

Do you really think they are so dramatically different that one version will work and the other will desolve the internals? The Elite is their best quality metal against metal protection lubricant.

Hoppe's #9 Lubricating Oil

Best weather protection.

Hoppe's #9 cleaning solvent...not an oil!

Elite, Hoppe's best friction fighter. High viscosity oil refined to perfection for use in firearms, fishing reels and other precision mechanisms. Does not harden, gum or become rancid. Gives extra-long service.

Sorry if I'm making you mad Bruce I am just paranoid about hurting my gun, so basically the Elite Gun Oil is just like #9 but "Finer" I guess that's why they call it "Elite" I'll stick with the bottle I bought then and use it tommorow.

dude, relax. unless you plan on lubing your gun up with concentrated sulfuric acid, any oil will work.

^^^LOL^^^  anyways, gun oil is gun oil, unless your putting acid in there your fine, no oil you put in there could possibly ruin anything.

I know it couldn't "RUIN" anything, but some oils are better than other oils, that's a fact. On my Spyders I used PMI Gun Oil, which is a low-grade 3 in 1. For my Tippmann A-5 I am now useing Hoppes which I am also useing on my Crosman Quest 1000 FPS Pellet Rifle.... Either way I'm set oil-wise so this thread can be closed by a mod if needed.
