    Posted: 02 September 2006 at 11:08pm
Newbie...obviously...just bought a used 98 cutom...and a 20 oz. co2 tank for it...the rentals I have used and filled before had an attachment for a quick hook-up to the fill station...the tank i purchased does not...is this something I need or will I be able to fill when I play tomorrow?  The tank is a Brass Eagle refillable.  Thanks in advance.

I have a faint idea of what you are referring to, and those things are not common at all. Your basic pin valve C02 tank will be just fine.

That might have been the Tippmann quick fill thing where it says you do not need to weigh the tank. If it wasn't that, it would have been something similar or else they were HPA.

If you don't mind me railroading this topic for a second, since this is kind of similar I think. I just got my 98 custom and a 20 oz tank, but no matter how straight I make the tank, when I remove it, it shoots co2 around the seal for a second, is that normal?

(edit, it does it while i am unscrewing it)

^Yes, that is perfectly normal. You can prevent this by turning the co2 tank out just and before it starts spraying co2, pull the trigger a few times.

ehh...not alot maybe a few shots worth. to solve the problem you have to buy a good on/off valve for it.

Actually the only co2 coming out is what is left in the hose line. If you unscew it to the point where it does start spraying and you leave it there, it will stop suddenly.

For a high quality on/off valve, I recommend the Smart Valve, by Smart Parts. I think they are around $20.
You are supposed to have tank valves replaced by a certified airsmith.
