How is the E-grip not for the 98 custom when the body of the 98 custom pro is the same. If I'm not mistaken, I thought the E-grip was available for the 98 custom years before the pro was introduced. If I'm mistaken, correct me! |

first off, just because they are cosmetically the same on the outside, doesn't mean that they are the same gun.... the original 98 customs have a different sear/sear spring setup than the custom pro(and newer 98 customs). the older customs can only accept the ebolt, whereas the newer customs, and the custom pros can only accept the egrip.

What you are referring to is the old old old sear tripping system. IF you can find one, it would work for your old 98C, but the new system does not work on older 98Cs. |

The old system was bad. You had to put all the wires together and other stuff. I don't think that the battery could evin fit in the grip because the tripper went all the way across the grip.

The E-Trigger for the Custom Pro is a drop in fit in the later model 98 Customs. The later model 98Cs, and the Custom Pros, have a sear that is pushed by the spring. The earlier ones have a spring that pulls on the sear.

Ok, Now I see the difference. I thought that the internals were the same. So without the E-trigger, they are pretty much the same. Minus the longer barrel, drop forward and double trigger. I had my 98 custom for atleast 4 years or longer but the last two years I havent even played once. Tested it out and couldnt beleave it still works as if new (after alittle gun oil that is). When I was active with it, I couldnt save enough money for upgrades due to buying paint all the time. Now I have enough saved to work with. I already got a 12" dye ultralite, revolution hopper, and double trigger back when I use to play. I thought about upgrading the fire speed alittle and getting the E-trigger but if my only option other than the R/T is an E-bolt and it was such a pain to install, Ill just go with the R/T and not worry if it happens to get alittle wet. With the R/T, will I need to install an expansion chamber also? Or can the 98 Custom pull off 10+ shots a second without one? I was told long ago that the expansion chamber on a custom was just a waste but that was before a R/T was even mentioned. |

Both will work just great, I assure you. If you are really trigger happy, a Xchamber will help you out. If you are content with short bursts of 10 or whatever bps (not sustained 10 bps and above, if you do this get an Xchmaber, Stabilizer, or HPA) then straight C02 will work ok. Thanks! Had me alittle worried there. I thought my 98 Custom was as old school as my 68 Carbine. I have a hard enough time finding just replacement parts for it. I'll end up tossing it sooner or later! I'm looking forward to the new upgrades! |
