Do you have the correct size crescent wrench?  It should just turn right out.  Pliers will damage the edges and round it off.

Uh....I've always used a vice-grip or a adjustable wrench...never had any problems, useing Pliers is just not smart.

Guys... it's a flush mount fitting. It's not a 90*.

Honestly I don't know how you get it out. People have asked, and no one knows. Give CP a ring.

I'll have to check that out myself, I don't like macro just coming out the end and bending to the asa, I'll see if I can find something.
*edit* the stock macro fitting uses a 3/16 allen head, comes out nicely.

I would need to see a picture of this... every CP reg I have seen had a female hole on the bottom of the reg, which leaves no way to make it flush mount.

It might look like a female hole (uhm, need to find different words ) but it's just a straight macro fitting.  I took mine out as listed in my other post, but a regular 90 won't fit, the barrels are quite a ways inside so you need an adapater, or a 90 with long threads; I had one from somewhere and it works fine.
