I found a compressed air tank that I was thinking of buying but it is a low pressure tank with a 5 year retest date. I know the 5 year retest date is no problem (correct me if I'm wrong tho) but I wasn't sure about the low pressure. I have a tippmann 98 custom that I got a few years ago and I am pretty tired of CO2. Do Tippmann 98C's handle low pressure or do they need high pressure?

Without a low pressure kit, it is pretty doubtful you will be able to run effectively with a low pressure tank. You could do some modifications to the valve to help deal with the lower pressure (increase air flow and lighten spring tension). I got a pretty stock Model 98 operating effectively at around 550 or so PSI, but I don't have a gauge on my regulator to verify how low it can go, I adjust only by ball velocity.

The 98C may not work with a low pressure output tank...unless you install the LPK. The other alternative is to have a different valve installed on the tank. About a year ago I sent my Nitro Duck tank to Crossfire, who installed a new HP output valve on it for $65 (the old Nitro Duck was OK but required a cradle mount rather than the more standard screw in) |

thanks a lot. I think I'll stick to just buying a high pressure air tank. How much do low pressure kits cost around though?

low pressure kits are somewhere about 100$, and then the addition of a regulator of your choice.
