CO2 and powertube problems

So my 98 c seems that its is going through CO2 like more then it should. My velocity screw is not even out that far. I took it apart and cleaned it and checked all the o-rings, all were fine. so i put it back together and shot a few balls and when i did i could see as much CO2 coming out of the side of the gun where the bolt is as out of the barrel. Is this normal? I can hear no leaks in the gun. What could be causing me to not get alot of shots? And i took the 2 powertube bolts out but it was still stuck to the gun. My friend said there was thread locker on it and to just pop it off. When i take it off, do i have to put more thread locker on when reassembling it?  (note: my powertube has never been off before)

I just got my tanks filled at gander mountain. When i asked the man how much was in the 12oz and he said 10oz. I didnt connect it to my gun after i got it filled, so either i got ripped off or it leaked out which i highly doubt. It was either gander mountain or d!cks sporting goods i got it filled at and they probably did the same with the 20 and 9. I dont know if that was the problem because i havent shot a whole tank since.

I don't even understand why there is a  button at the top of the page. Certainly virtually nobody knows what it is for.

Gas comes out of the bolt hammer/rear-bolt slot because it is supposed to...I am going to let you figure out why.

The POWER VALVE is not glued into the POWER TUBE. Those two screws hold the power valve in place. When you take them out there is nothing holding the power tube in the marker and nothing holding the power valve inside the power tube except normal "sticksion" from being bolted together for a while. Again, I'll leave it to you to figure out how to get them apart...(hint: It involves the eraser end of a pencil)

The screws thread into the power valve and, yes, they are LocTite'd in place so they don't loosen. LocTite is used also to eliminate the perceived necessity to over tighten them (and thus strip the holes in the power valve requiring you to spend $30 for another)

Paintballs that are too small for the bore of your barrel will eat up terrific amounts of gas compared to paintballs that fit closely.(Switching from a .682" diameter ball to a .690" can increase your marker's velocity by 200 fps if you left the velocity screw untouched when switching paint. Shows how much gas is blowing by with a loose paintball.)

Rather than listening to your buddy, who appears to know little about the marker, read the stupid manual...In fact, read several of the manuals covering the 98C, the 98CP and the A-5. Look at the schematic diagrams until you understand how the parts interact. And please don't tell us you don't have a manual (there is another button up there called the Product Guide. All kinds of good things appear when you click on that one...even down-loadable manuals!)

Thanks, I actually searched for the tpoic for a little, didn't know there was a search button on these forums. But what you were saying about the ball size may be true, my gun just started doing what it is doing. But would a blue or purple loc-tite work better with those screws, I was thinking the blue.

Blue will do an adequate job of holding things, but allow easy removal.

Just make sure when you put the valve bolts back in, you dont overtighten the screws. Its a common mistake that leads to alot of ruined valves.

Put a drop or two of loctite on the screw threads, and screw them in. Snug them tight, theres no need to really crank them on there.
