    Posted: 07 April 2006 at 9:50pm
Hey.  For those of you who remember, i've been working on a E-Bolted custom I picked up a month or two ago, and now, i've got pictures of the newest mod i've done, a relocated battery.

Heres a link to the old topic, the images might not work, but i'll get a full shot of the gun in a day or two, its still all in peices right now.

http://www.tippmann.com/forum/wwf77a/forum_posts.asp?TID=149 481&KW=Tippmann%5FWerks

and heres a picture of the mod itself, sorry about the quality:

http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e118/EnigmaSteeev/BatteryMod.jpg

As you can see, the battery has been placed inside the grip frame, eliminating the need to A). Have that big bulky battery case on the side of the gun, and B). Avoid running wires into the hammer area, avoiding pinching wires while operating the gun.

To anyone who hasn't done something like this, it requires MASSIVE amounts of milling, and it is NOT fun.  It took me nearly a week to get it to where I am, and I still have to mill abit more to get the halfs to close all the way.  The board had to move up a bit to fit the battery in, which meant that the holes for the sear had to be milled down, no longer useable.  Definately worth it though.

Let me know what you think, i'll try to get it all together again and get up some new pics.  Thanks.

Oh, and check the old post for the list of mods i've done,  the only new ones that arn't there are:

Milled front grips
Torpedo Reg
Relocated On/Off switch

Thanks

I did basically the same mod. myself for a customer it was much easier to cut away a half to recieve the battery then carve out a dye sticky grip to cover, it worked great. another thing I did was drilled and taped and installed a return air line to the ram making it powered both ways. the other lines connects to the exhaust side of the of the valve (the open port below the delivery line). the problem I encountered was feeding enough ball to the marker efficiently. chop city! wnet to the cyclone feed system, no more problems other than replacing the ratchet about every 8000 shots.  I believe it is one of the fastes shootin Tippy's around

I would just finish up by cutting out the area in the halves for the battery and just let the grips cover it.

I would sujest doing the quickstrip mod. where you cut the back half of one of the recievers completly off. This will make changing the battery alot easier.

Actually, if you checked out the old post, which I left the address for, you'd see that I already have done a quick-strip mod...along with a few other "home" mods.

Took it to the field today, still getting crazy looks.  I was entirely confused by the one persons post talking about dye grips...but im using them too, I had to cut them back abit to get all the wiring to fit right, but its lookin pretty sweet.  I don't want to mill too much right yet, because I still have a 2 way ram mod to do as well as pick up a Mini-Morlock board, so...no need for anything else crazy at the moment.

Thanks for the comments folks

polished internals is the act of running fine grade steel
wool to polish(lightly sand) the inside of the reciever halves alluminum
to rid the excess paint from the halves producing a
shiny nice silky smooth silver metal, without the oxidization, so as to reduce the friction of the moving
parts that run against it. with the new slick paintless surface,
cycle speed is increased a little bit, and it looks nice.
but it reduces wear as well on the internals i believe
because now that it's smooth from polishing, it's less
likely to grind away at the hammer and stuff. only polish where moving parts are going to contact the reciever.
it's actually OPPOSITE of a mirror finish, cuz polishing
is really putting scratches everywhere on it, so that the
entire surface is covered in scratches so much that it cannot
be differed from unscratched cuz there is no unscratched
when you are done. it's like a flat gray finish, looks
sweet. polishing is used primarily to get rid of the excess
paint from the factory that get's into the inside of the
reciever halves. if you are rounding the edges with your
steel wool, than you are removing material, and that is overboard.
too much. polishing, like i said, covering the alluminum
area with trillions of small scratches from the wool until
it's all covered.

Ha, well, sorry to bring this topic back from the dead, but, I've started working on it...again.

I've thrown out all the original plans I had for putting a mini-morlock or whathaveyou board in, and went against doing any more milling.  (for the health of my dremel, which still hasn't forgiven me).

With that said..

I picked up a PM6 grip this past saturday from a PM6 user who has switched to the Ultralight frame.  Wasn't really interested in using it anymore, so I figured i'd buy it.  My plan now is, instead of just milling enough room to put a DM/Mini whatever board in the stock tippmann grip frame, why not just remove the frame completely and weild on the PM6 frame instead?

I've seen this done with quite alot of other grips before, so I figured the process couldn't be too hard, plus, the PM line is probably one of the more comfortable grips, at least to me anyway.

So...I've got the PM grip completely stripped, im going to have to saw it directly in half so that I can take it apart with the Tippmann body itself, and other then that...I just have to make some room for a solenoid

Should turn out good, I've already got the 2 way-d ram done, just gotta slap this grip frame on and i'll be all set, pending a LPR kit. (Which I might just make, but im not sure yet)

Feel free to post some coments, as im still taking em. Oh, and search my login name to find my original post, if you wish to see the actual Custom im talking about.  Pics up as soon as I do this, hopefully by Thursday

Sounds like a fair amount of work but it should be tight when you're done. Please post pics when you finish.

For a second I thought, who in god's name bumped a thread from April? However, after reading the thread sounds like you've got a heck of a project on your hands. Good luck making a true cut on the PM6 frame. I think it would be easier/look better if you left it in one piece and just unbolted it from the body when you need to disassemble the marker. Just a thought.
