You're going to spend a lot of money on a Buzzard regardless of whether it's new or used. Sniper IIs are awesome. I started out with a SL-68 II and worked my way up. You can find a lot of nice Phantom packages on the Nation. I would look for something like that first.
Pumpker'd; (V.) When a pump player runs up and shoots you at point blank range because you thought 20bps made you good.

yeah, phantoms are great for the price you pay for them. If you can hold out for a while, Lapco has officially said that they are going to start producing the grey ghost again. They're asking the moderators of their forum what color they want the anno-scheme right now.

I don't have a price yet, but I'll drop by the shop and talk with the guy who moderates for LAPCO to see what the scuttlebutt is.

i dont know much about pumps but the new C-3 by tippman is kinda cool. it uses propane and one tank gets you 50,000 shots. just thought it is kinda cool that it is powered by propane.

PMI Trracer is a good solid gun, I have one. Pumps nice and smooth, really easy maintanence, and will be easier on your wallet.

c-3 would be last choice, pumps are suppose to be light and low profile, c-3 is huge and heavy.  i thought about getting an autococker body, and building one from scratch. however the grey ghost if it is being manufactored again is another great option.

Quiet is a good thing in a pump marker too.  C3s are not quiet.

I have a Phantom set up as follows:
  • Stock 14" barrel (great barrel, no need to go aftermarket, but this doesn't keep me from really wanting a CCM carbon fiber kit)
  • Set of CCI detent rings (spare set as well)
  • CCI vertical tank mount
  • CCI 45 grip frame with Hogue grips
  • Bottom line (set up with macro line/fittings)
  • Armson Pro Team raised sight rail
  • Armson fiber optic sight
  • Collapsable "T"-stock
  • Palmer Stabalizer
  • 6 oz CO2 tank
  • 45 round BE hopper
I also have the following which gets added/removed depending upon conditions/personal whims.
  • 12 gram adapter
  • Intruder foregrip expansion chamber
  • Indian Creek 150 round Maxi Loader
The Phantom is a really nice pump, but I always recommend that new pumpers borrow a pump or buy a cheap one first to see how they like playing pump.  (When I got back into pump, I started with a pair of Kingman Hammers which I got a good deal on because they needed work.)

Keep the SL faith, at least for the time being.

Work your way up, is what I'd say.

(I own an SL68II, trust me they're indestructable)

Most importantly - People suck.
