So can I take the valve assembly off my 3000 crossfire alum. tank and put it on my crossfire 4500 coke bottle? Then change out the burst disks? *My 4500 1.8 burst disk keeps blowing and I dont want to send it in. I've heard horror stories about crossfire service. If you know a solution that would be great. |

Would be wise to get a second or third opinion and not simply go on my own... but as far as I know, yes, that would be fine.
Most replacement/new regs I see only vary by output... not by input. Which would appear to me to say that you could use them on either 3k or 4.5k tanks without issue. |

The issue is actually getting the assembly off of your tank. Various valves have different threads based upon what year they were made, which manufacturer made them, and sometimes, even what pressure the tank holds. Also, certain thread lockers are used on HPA tanks that require special tools or "spuds" to get them off. I had a hard time getting my AA Armageddon hydroed a few years back due to this.
Why does your burst disk keep failing? That's not a good sign. |

Not sure why it is doing it. I talked to the guy at the shop and he said to just order a new tank reg. They are fairly cheap so that sound like a plan. Thanks for the help. |

I had a 3000 PSI Crossfire that the burst disk failed on twice in a week. When I had the tank inspected the problem was a regulator failure that could have eventually allowed full tank pressure into my marker. (They explained more thoroughly than that, but I would only screw up what they said if I tried to get technical.) |

Yep Mack, that's why I am not using it right now. I was told to put a larger burst disk in, but then that could happen and would probably ruin my marker. |

if a 3000 psi reg will fit on a 4500 psi tank it should be fine... however i wouldent recomend filling the tank over 3000psi.

It should be fine to switch but I thought crossfire regs were one of the best. Basically it is just the springs that are messed up unless you have opened it up and messed with it and accidently chipped something inside. My 1.8 kept brsting because the output pressure rose too much also. Putting a simple pressure piece on the reg that your pro shop should have, they could show you if the pressure rises gradually.

agreed they're lighter than crossfire and the ref at my field (owns 07 ego or a 06 ego, not sure) can't manange to make ever it shoot-down. |

The difference is in the internal threads--HPA regulators have a threaded piece that goes down into the tank, which doesn't exist on CO2 tanks, and can change from one HPA regulator to another. That said, yes, switching tanks on your reg should work, but the reg could have trouble keeping the pressure in your gun low enough (causing blown o-rings, etc). If you get a new reg, you should be good. |
