... is hilarious.

We have to give speeches in my English class and we can use props such as a powerpoint.  The day she assigns the assignment, she tells the forms of media we can use to get the powerpoint on her computer.  She tells us it has a place for CDs, floppy disks and a "place for the thumb drive".  Not a USB port, but a "place for the thumb drive".

So today one of my classmates gets ready to do his presentation.  First, he tries finding a place on the computer for a sims card.  The fact that the computer had a floppy drive should have been enough of an indication that it was quite archaic, thus probably wouldn't accept a sims card.  Since this didn't work, he pulled up the browser as he obviously had it stored somewhere online.  The browser's homepage is msn.com.  He accidentally types yahoo in the address bar, but rather than just typing .com, he re-types yahoo in search engine.  This brings up yahoo.com, which he clicks.  From here he searches cox and this brings up cox.com, which was his final destination.  In the end, he can't even get it up, so it is postponed until Wednesday.

That is all.

It annoys me when people try and do projects on a computer, then they come in class and have no idea how to bring it up and present it.

Happens all the time.

Case in point:

Power Point presentation in Psych 100 last fall. Girl saves presentation on jump drive. Inserts jump drive into USB. Folder pops up, no files.

"But I saved it to the folder...."

Usually something happens where the professor can't figure out how to turn the projector on, or get the sound working, etc. You'd think they'd train them how to use the equipment...

Luckily at my school, we use computers everyday and the faculty seem to know at least the basics (except for the older crowd). I'd say at least 90%, if not all, of my projects are PowerPoint or at least computer based.

Yeah, he also said he sent it to his e-mail in case this happened, but it was not there either.

That is what he called it.  Based on his knowledge of computer related items, I would hazard a guess at that not being what it is really called.  As I did not get a good look at it, I took his word for what it was.

No doubt, but the irony of it all is just too much fun.

I think there is a such thing as a sim card and if i'm not mistaken they look a lot like a floppy disk just a little smaller.

A sim card goes in your phone, you don't use it for data storage.

Yeah, a SIM card is never used for storage of anything but numbers and data about your network.

What a stupid person, I bet he is a member of that WBC.

Nope. If you have a cingular or tmobile phone, the SIM card is that little card under your battery. It IDs your phone and stores some numbers and whatnot. SD cards are bigger and are just for storage.

I'm sure you could store a Powerpoint document on a SIM card--if you had the ability to connect it to your computer and write something to it.

...and didn't want your phone anymore.

Na, theoretically you could move the presentation to the phone over usb, save it to the SIM, then use a SIM reader to get the ppt up at the school. SIM card readers are rare though.
