Im currently experiencing a mental battle. Im not sure if i need a palmers regulator. Honestly when i chrono, my shots vary max 5-10 Fps from one another and i do not have a reg attached. I just use HPA. I dont think that spending 100 buks is worth a few less FPS deviation. I dont rlly care much for air efficiency either so i dont care if a reg will add more shots per fill. I dont have a problem refilling one extra time at the field.

IM thinking about just getting a rva and saving that money on the reg and play paintball 2 extra weekends:) What do you guys think.

No just get the A5 Male Palmers kit and it should hook up nicely.

I just bought the female version... I have a feeling I won't be disappointed and neither will you.

When is the Hydro Date on your Tank? If it is fairly old, it "might" be the regulator on your tank isn't working properly.

Also, since your using HPA look into a AKA Sidewinder Regulator, it'll set you back around a $100 or so but well worth it's cost.

Odd, you said that you are getting excellent shot-to-shot consistency so you don't think you need a regulator and the next two post recomend you get a regulator.

I agree with you! With such consistency I see no reason to invest in a secondary regulator. If you like the RVA then go with it.

I would say you don't really need a regulator if your shot to shot is what you say it is. You sound like a recballer or whatever so you don't need +-2 fps on your uber 1337 $2000 gun.

I say you can skip on the reg if you want. if your decide you want one get a Custom Products Reg, their like 50 to 60 bucks and are just as good as those 120 ones.

IMO i get the CP reg, skip the RVA and still get an extra weekend of paintball. :)

Wait when I first read this thread cypher5601 what was said/asked was a bit different than what it says now.

He asked if the Male Palmers Stabilizer would work in his A-5, and if not what else he needed to buy for it to work and he asked what we thought about the Palmers regs. He told us he had HPA that didn't seem to be working well.  I don't recall him giving as much info.  Didn't mention the FPS diffences he was receiving or anything like that.

He changed what he wrote and now there is more info about his situation! With the added info we can help him make a better decision.  But with what was asked originally the first two posts were fine responses!

By the way Bruce, with the new information I now agree that he doesn't need one!

PALMER REG, RVA AND FVA.  FVA provides "flow resistance" which forces a stronger air charge to the CYCLONE.  This set up provides excelent velocity control and insures a strong pulse to CYCLONE.

I'm going with everyone else on this. If you're only straying ~10 fps on your velocity, there's no need for a secondary regulator. I also agree with Black_Shadow in that if you want a secondary reg, but don't want to dish out $100, look into a CP reg. They make some of the nicest on the market. The RVA would be a good idea, so go with that and get out there and play!
