Don't even argue it is really pointless there have been endless threads and every one has come to the conclusion that no you can't snipe in paintball so let it go if not the leave the forums because we have enough argumenat as it is.

Well think about it. "A-5*sniper," "Is the Apex good?" This adds to "I's gonna snipzorz." And no, you can't. Edited by DeTrevni - 23 April 2007 at 10:16pm |

If you like the flat and extended range trajectory there are only two common barrels available that meet the need. Those are the Tippmann Flatline and the BT Apex. I have both and I find the Apex to be far superior. It has all the Flatline's ability and much more. It handles virtually any brand or size of quality paint. It can also be adjusted so it shoots just like a standard no-backspin barrel. Can shoot curves left, right and dive bomb. And, with a little bit of shopping can be found for about the same price as the Flatline. Oh, and BTW, sure you can snipe in paintball...shooting, usually a single shot at a time, from a hidden undetectable position with a long range accurate barrel...even in speedball. The Apex and Flatline barrels are the only ones that fit the bill. Shooting back-line to back-line I have taken out as many as 5 players in one speedball game. No one knew where I was OR RETURNED FIRE. That is snipping! End of discussion! |

Well, on a technicality. Sure, you can "snipe" from time to time when the situation allows, but you can't be a paintball sniper. I guess that would be a better term to use. As a dedicated position, it just makes no sense what so ever. The objective of a true military sniper is to take out high value targets beyond the effective range of return fire. Sure, there are situations where this doesn't always apply, but a sniper's purpose is to take out a HVT. They aren't equipped to fight. In paintball, you will almost never see an HVT by himself. If you decide to go for the shot, then everyone near you will light you up, or the general area of your marker's report, almost guaranteeing your elimination. Ghillie is not gonna help a deluge of paint. Also, barring an illegal silencer, you will probably not be able to get your gun quiet enough to prevent from giving your location away when you fire. Especially at the ranges the sport is played. Also, in paintball, you are not guranteed a one shot kill. This seldom happens period. The guns are just not accurate enough, and it is difficult to get someone in the open long enough to shoot him. It's almost necessary to fire multiple shots, in rapid succession, to gurantee a "kill." This immediately negates the use of the term "sniper." And the last aspect of my argument is this: The definition. "A sniper uses stealth and concealment to eliminate the enemy." You have successfully described every person's objective in woodsball... If anyone took the time to read this, I would like to say, I am not trying to be harsh, just posting the facts. I concede you can "snipe" from time to time, but you just can't be a dedicated sniper. |

I have an Apex and the adjustable "hop-up" is a really practical feature that the flatline does not have.
If you want range, then get the Apex. |
