Use the one that says Thumbnail for Forums . What exactally are you planning on using to make it "ghillie"? Those are awfully light colored to use in woods. |

I'm not sure about snake, but the reason I would tell someone that there are no snipers in paintball is because;
1) There aren't. 2) I don't like seeing people's paintball experiences ruined by false hopes. A lot of people try to be as "sniperish" as possible. While I would personally love running around with a gun that looks like a sniper rifle and picking people off, and while it certainly is possible, it's far from sniping. I don't care what definition you read, a sniper in the military is defined by his range advantage when taking out targets. Anyone can do reconnaissance, anyone can be a marksman, anyone can be stealthy, and anyone can combine the three skills. But only someone who wields gun that shoots significantly farther and more accurately than other small arms is ever considered a sniper. In paintball, the idea that sniping is defined by range advantages is thrown out by companies so that they can market to people who want the glory they think is associated with military sniping. They throw in other aspects of being a "paintball sniper" in their marketing and present to them products that are marked up in price because they're being marketed as ideal for snipers. They get people to think certain products increase your range (only Flatlines, Apexes, and increased velocity do that) even though they're shooting at the same velocity, and that leads to gullibility towards other myths, which starts the marketing cycle over again. There is only one way anyone can be a sniper in paintball. If everyone is playing at standard field velocity, and the player's gun is running about 400 fps with good accuracy. Of course, you would be limited to shots that are above a certain distance away from the enemies, but it actually would be sniping. Being stubborn about it will only hurt your paintball growth and will only make you more annoying around more experienced players. |

i agree with most of this. all snake seems to do is flame people that take pride in not blowing through a case of paint in 3 minuets. the military definition of a sniper has NOTHING to do with a paintball sniper. all that term means is that they want to be unseen and accurate. snake i found 1 of your rants in this forum during a search for paintball guns and that made me want to come to this forum. but thats all i see you do is whine about how someone says sniper anywhere in their post. back to the topic at hand. ya for a typical ghilie suit thats a bit dark for the pants but i guess id have to see the field to know what color it needs to be. i tried to make a ghilie suit once but decided to give up on the project aftersewing the netting to the coat. let me tell you it sucks when you stab your finger so many times. |

Why should he have to take the time to explan snipers to people who obviously won't take the time to search?

And here lies an example of what marketing has done to people. ANYBODY can be unseen and accurate. Anybody can setup an ambush take long-range shots, shoot one shot at a time. Sniping in all culture everywhere has been associated with the act of taking precision shots from outside the range of usual small arms. People who want to be snipers in paintball think the exact same mentality. They want the long-range precision shooting associated with sniping. The marketing and other wannabe snipers convince these players that the equipment is not necessary in the paintball context. The result is that people call themselves snipers when in fact all they are really doing is playing the same way many other people do, with the addition of a ghillie suit and other equipment (which is often useless in paintball). The only benefit the players get is the comfort of thinking that they are indeed snipers and the idea that they somehow fall into some elite group of players. And don't get me wrong, I have no objections to anyone's style of play. It does get annoying when people camp out of range of combat thinking that they are helping the team, but it's nothing I loose sleep over. What players need to realize is that what they're doing is not sniping. It's like calling yourself a medic when you don't have the ability to heal other players, or calling yourself a demolition specialist without any grenades, a rocket launcher, or any other scenario explosives.
Because in previous threads, all people say is that it's not possible with no backing. Look on other forums, and you'll see that people rave over sniping. And that the anti-sniping posts are the ones that the members (particularly the staff of the company that runs the forum) are against.. Better to do the explaining in a thread where kids are looking for anti-sniping arguments to hate on. The smack of a logical argument should cure all but the most stubborn. You have claimed the title of "Sniper" in other threads. Therefore you have said you were a sniper.
In this thread: Sniper Thread To all of you that are criticizing me for flaming snipers, I ask you to run a search on me User name in previous sniper threads. You will find that I have no problem discussing sniping in paintball. However everyone of you that are talking about how you are the UB3R 1337 5n1p3rz have not once made a legible post. I refuse to have an intelligent debate with someone who can't even write so a normal person can understand them. |

You never had a thread to begin with. You declared a project and showed us a normal pair of pants. Besides the fact that this thread is in the wrong section (putting a picture in your post does not automatically make it legal in the marker gallery), you had no substance in your text that was anything more unique than any other ghillie suit thread. So what happened? 1) You posted something that didn't belong in this section and joked that you were a sniper. 2) Snake said his line according to unwritten forum etiquette. *** 3) prolite tells you not to worry 3) You flip out. 4) I try to set things straight. It's the usual progression that you see in threads like this (except, of course, the users involved can always change). *** When a member's post is in the wrong section, is a post that few will care about, or contains statements that are not in line with the beliefs of the forum regular population; one must either attack the user, clarify his position on the issue, or hi-jack the thread. |
