   Tippmann A-5 Jamming

I have a stock Tippmann A-5 that I just tried putting a Tippmann double trigger on.  Prior to installing the trigger, the marker worked as per usual.  After I installed the trigger and attached CO2, the marker would fire successfully 3-4 times then jam.  I have browsed the forum for about an hour now and have not found anything specifically on topic.

By jam, I mean the trigger becomes unresponsive and the marker is neither cocked nor uncoked fully.  The bolt is pulled back, the finger lever to move the bolt is in its forward position, the trigger moves, but the trigger is unresponsive, and pulling on the bolt finger handle does not unstuck it.  When I pull off the handle assembly, I hear a metallic click—likely the sear becoming unstuck—and then the bolt fires.

My guess is that something needs to be oiled.  However, I am reluctant in willy-nilly applying oil to the trigger and bolt assembly because if the A-5 is anything like the 68-Carbine, doing so will cause problems with the sear, resulting in “burping”/automatic firing.

For reference, the ball latch is not in backwards, there are no air leaks, and the double trigger is not damaged.  The marker is stock and has been used for a single 6 hour session.  I have not yet pulled the entire marker apart and oiled it.  It still has the original factory lubrication.

Has anyone had a similar experience?  Any advice or guesses?

	Hmm, this is a good one. New gun with a single part change that is supposed to be one of the easiest...gotta love technology. Try looking at the Trigger Slider, and make sure the spring in there is good. And feel free to oil the trigger lightly to keep it moving. Only other thing I can think of is maybe the sear is isn't in the right position (between the two pins close together) Give that a try and see what happens

	Well, I’ve disassembled the trigger assembly and noticed the forward spring was missing (the one for the trigger, not the sear). I’ve put a quasi-replacement spring in from a clicky pen, but the problem remains. I have ordered a new spring. As to oil, I have been using a clear marker oil from ACI. Comparing to a separate bottle of oil I recently picked up, the ACI oil looks much thicker. The ACI oil is about two years old. My new guess is that over the course of time liquid has evaporated, making the oil thicker. This weekend I’ll pull the whole gun apart and replace the lubrication.

	Nagash1959, as it turns out, the spring in the slider on the trigger was the cause. I was switching between my single and double trigger, and only the double trigger caused problems. The spring in the slider on the double trigger was fully functional, but I switched it out. Problem solved. I guess even a slightly different spring tension will completely throw a trigger off.
