I got a little bored with the black frame so I decided I am going to do a black to blue fade. I am going to try to find metallic colors for the job. I started by taking everything off of the frame. I have a big container of acetone and acetone works wonders when taking off paint. I would recomend using acetone on taking paint off of Tippmanns too. I poured some acetone in a container and put the frame in it. I let it sit for 20 minutes so it could work it's way into the paint. I pulled it out and started rubbing the paint. It just peels itself off and the paint in the nooks and crannies came off easily with the paint around it. THis is what I have so far.
I still need to go get the paint some primer and a clear coat. This is kinda my summer project as I don't have a job yet and it gets boring doing nothing. I have black and blue parts with a barrel with a blue to black fade, so I think it will compliment the gun very well. So what do you think? ***UPDATE*** Started painting today. Should have it finished later today. The first pictures are of the primer and the others are of the black paint. The blue is easier to fade onto the black because the black has a big spray for some reason. I still need to do the blue which should give an annodized look from the test I have done. And I still need to do a top coat.

if you hav any cuts on your hands you dont know about when using acetone. your going to find out you have them very quickly. acetone will pretty much eat its way throung any kind of paint, we use it at work all the time to get ink off the molds.

My hands are perfectly fine, it's not like I am dipping my whole hand in acetone for extended periods of time. I just grab the gun and peel off the paint. I am sure you know this, but acetone evaporates very quickly so it can't really "eat" your hands away.

I don't plan to fade the body, just the frame. The blue isn't acting as well as I hoped for this fade, but it'll work for me. Honestly, I don't know if I want to do anything with the body yet. Only time will tell, and boredom. |

you should have made the blue a little more contasting, i had to look at it twice to figure out it had two colors, but nice job

The blue didn't work well with the black. When I bought the blue, it looked like it would have a light pretty blue color to it. I didn't realize at first that it needed a chromish color underneath it. If I ever get bored again this summer and can find a blue I like, I will redo it. I might have to fade a chrome color onto the black just to be able to use that blue more effectively.
