I was thinking about how to reduce ping and liquid CO2 coming out.
My idea is to put a coil attached from one end of the tank to the other. Kinda like an internal spring(but rather stiff as to not bang against the sides). This may reduce some of the tank ping. and the added surface area would allow more liquid to gassify. |

I don't see how it would reduce ping but I definately think it would help the liquid gassify. Sort of like reverse anti-siphon.

Well when reading the idea, it would seam to me that the internal surface area wouldn't matter. The spring wouldn't actually allow more surface area, it would actually make it less. The only way for it to be more surface area in order to "gassify" would be for the liquid co2 to have more time to turn into a gaseous state like a coiled remote.

I think the idea was that it was a free spring inside the tank.
Since the spring takes up room where there previously was nothing, it creates surface area. Thats what I got out of it anyways. |

Well liquid co2 doesn't expand more just because it is touching something, it goes into a gaseous state when it has more surface area that is above the surface(the gas co2) Having a spring in it would just take up space inside the tank and if the spring is half in and half out of the liquid co2, the liquid co2 has less of itself touching the gas, meaning less surface area to the gas.

I am thinking the ping noise is what some people think is a noise coming from the tank when the gun is fired. After doing the heat shrink sear spring mod, I found that the sear makes the pinging noise.

Metal CO2 tanks act as echo chambers for the ping generated by the gun, making it louder. Quite audible if you listen for it.

So really by adding a spring, you'd essentially just be adding a tuning fork to it. So wait, if you could put different length springs in different tanks!!!!!! You could play a song!!!! |
