So over the past few weeks i have been helping my father out by going to work with him because he hurt his knee. Today he offered me 100$ for helping out and i refused to accept it being as money is really tight right now. So i guess my question is, should i have taken the money? I mean i have my own job so i get money that way so the money isn't a problem, my dad seemed pretty upset that i wouldn't take the money though. Was i wrong in refusing to take it?

you did the right thing, but your dad wanted to do the right thing by you also. try and talk about it with him, tell him you are happy to do it, and don't expect to get paid

You should have taken it. He probably felt you deserved it. Your refusal likely humiliated him. Instead of taking the money you got greedy and didn't let him be the nice guy.

i would've taken the money, and snuck it back into his wallet afterward.
but you did what you thought was right, so yes, you did the right thing. |

Your Dads Probibly Mad Because He knows you know that money is tight, and by you not taking it for that very reason makes him feel like like he is failing to support the family. |

You did something very nice. If you feel you deserve the money and you want it, take it, but if it's not a big deal to you, just pass it by and continue following your heart.

i would have done something similar. i would put all the money in a father's day card or birthday card. you did the right thing by showing him that sometimes it's not all about money. but sometimes parents just want you to accept it. |

You can't win.
If you take it, he's out $100 and as you said money's tight. If you don't, he'll see it as it not being good enough. So here's what you do. 4th of July is coming up, ya? Well then you get him a card and put the $100 he gave you into it. So you got the money for helping, and he gets money as a gift for the holiday. Win win. |
