Lower fps= more welts?

When me and my dad 1st got our 98 Customs they were set at 370 fps. Now we didn't know what they were set at until we went to a course to play 3 weeks after we got them. So we played about 6 times in our backyard before going to a course. When our guns were set at 370 I never once got a welt, but when we got back from the course and our guns were set at 295 we went and played in our backyard and I got like 5 welts. Is this just a coincidence?

I am no expert but I would have to say the higher fps was giving the paint the force it needed to break and there for more force went into the paintball breaking than into your skin, but with the lower fps the paintball wasn't getting the same breaking force so more force was distributed to you, therefore giving you a welt.

He got welts when he played at home too after they lowered the fps.

Yep, like the hand, I still have a welt on my middle finger from three weeks ago.

they dont hurt that much. I didn't even notice most of the welts I got until I took off my paintballing stuff.
