If you manually cock it back and it doesnt stay cocked, then whats wrong is the trigger was mounted incoorectly. The trigger is what holds back the hammer in the A5. Take off the trigger and you will see the underside of the hammer. Youll notice it has a cut in such a way that the trigger can hold it back when cocker.

Check the sear (holds the bolt in place). Make sure it is in their correctly. Refer back to your manual to make sure everything is in place.

Make sure your linkage arm is inserted into both your bolts. I had the same problem last week. It assembles okay, but won't cock back. If you don't have your manual, download it here.

Make sure the guide pin for the drive spring is n place. If its not theres, then the spring won't coil the way it should. it will just fold back and not allow full travel.
