For anyone who visits here and wonders why saying "Spec Ops" seems to instantly destroy their credibility.  I had the following conversation on their forum a while back:

Wow, calling paintball a "war" and peeing in place. It's a game, nothing of true value is on the line. This is the kind of stuff that makes paintball snipers fodder for amusement among the larger woodsball player community.

Excuse me for that. But where I come from we call all paintball games or whatever wars. It is hard for me to call it anything else. We play it like it is a war because we are a mil-sim woodsball group. I personally play it like it is a war because I will be in the Marines in a year, therefore, if I get shot it makes me pull my head out real fast because then I see that I could have died in real life in that situation. If you play with this mindset it makes you a much better player. Now, I am not advocating in any way shooting at someone else with real guns, actual hand to hand combat, or misuse of guns, this is a game play style I utilize.

This is a definition of war in Merriam Webster dictionary.
War- a struggle or competition between opposing forces or for a particular end

I took two main ideas away from this conversation, both of which I find amusing:

  • Paintball = USMC at war
  • The Dictionary-it's not just for sniper definitions anymore.

I have a friend who plays like that. He gets really pissed if you don't take it seriously.

Link, as requested.

Edited Note:  My part of the conversation was not until the last two pages.

I hate to argue where he wont read it, but this is for all the n00bs out there.

The best way to grow as a paintball player is to try increasingly stupid and risky manoeuvres and apply the successful ones when it matters. We get second chances, soldiers don't. Might as well take advantage of that.

Yea exactly. Paintball is your chance to be the bad ass rambo "soldier" because your getting peppered with paint, not lead. Those people that take it seriously are idiots.

Thats the reason I stay out of the Sniper HQ, or any other position forum, to avoid the idiots.
